It’s the first Monday of 2010! Sorry about the blogging hiatus, I always feel like it’s more important to be spending time with family and friends when I have the opportunity rather than hiding behind my keyboard, so this weekend was spent doing just that. We had a great time on New Year’s, but now I’m back with the daily postings! Hope yours was excellent as well!
Here are some recent noteworthy eats from the weekend:

There were at least three occasions where these were eaten

Cucumber, carrots, greenbeans, and yellow pepper.

TONS of veggie plates and bowls (Carrots, snap peas, pineapple salsa, broccoli, cucumber)

Peel n' eat shrimp leftover from Christmas Eve (I ate these for protein along with the veggie plates)

Roasted onions, peppers, and mushrooms with Nutra Salt spices! (reviews to come)

Pop Culture Probiotics Bar (reviews to come!)

Low carb-high fiber la tortilla factory wrap spread with a Sonoma Jacks Pepperjack cheese wedge sprinkled with splenda & cinnamon.
^I can’t believe I am just now trying this combo. It was awesome! It tasted just like the sweet cinnamony butter that you get with your rolls at Texas Roadhouse, except this version is totally guilt and grease free! You must try it.
Obviously all this food was not consumed at once, it was over the course of the weekend. There were also lots of meals that went unpictured, or the pictures that I have weren’t able to be uploaded quite yet.
Along with the meals, some lip-smacking desserts were consumed as well!

A bowl of thawed frozen berries.

Sugar free black cherry jello & cool whip free

Amazing Grass shake: 1 Amazing Grass packet (reviews to come), 1/2 C. frozen peaches, 1/2 C. hemp milk, and 1 handful of ice cubes.

Amazing Grass chocolate peanut butter bar

The Power of Fruit bar (berry flavor) - reviews to come!
Again, obviously they were not all consumed at once, but this weekend was kind of a blurr and I’m having trouble remembering when I ate what, so I just jumbled them all together for your viewing pleasure
As far as exercise this weekend, I maintained a good balance! It’s been hard because my back hasn’t been feeling much better, especially after I push it during a workout, but for the most part, I was pleased with the moves I got in over the past few days.
Thursday…
after work, I went to return a few things from Christmas, and then I decided to go straight home to help my Mom get things ready for the big New Years’ Eve party. I promise, I’ll share some cute pictures with you as soon as I upload them. Hopefully tonight! We had a great time ringing in the New Year with a house full of friends and family. We played two AWESOME new games that my cousin, Brooke got for Christmas. She always introduces the family to the best new games! They were called “Things” and “What’s Yours Like?”. They both made for some great laughs, that’s for sure. There were noisemakers, party poppers, and lots of kisses being given out at midnight.
Friday…
was pretty great as well. I woke up around 9:30AM, ate some breakfast, and hopped on the stationary bike, which I rode for 37 miles. Then I did a little bit of ab work and showered. I knew it was going to be another busy day in our house because we have our second “Christmas”. Since my uncle is going through a divorce, he doesn’t have his children for all of the holidays and because our family is so tight-knit, we don’t want them to miss out on any of the events that we have, thus, a second Christmas celebration. My cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and godparents were all back from last night again! The family had pork & saurkraut, along with a beef roast (since some of the family doesn’t eat pork), veggie trays, tons of desserts, meatballs, mini barbequed hot dogs, corn, corn flake potatoes, etc. Like I’ve said before, the copious amounts of food at our family gatherings can, and usually do, get a bit ridiculous. I ate none of the above, but created my own yummy concoctions like the ones shown above.
Saturday…
was a nice change, the Momma and I had an hour long yoga class at 8:30 AM. I love how relaxed the yoga workouts are. I’m really excited because I’m now going to be having yoga classes 2x’s a week! Monday nights & Saturday mornings. After yoga, I went home and did another 35 miles on the stationary bike and showered. My Mom and I decided a week ago that we wanted to go see the new Chipmunks movie as a family this weekend, and Saturday afternoon was the perfect opportunity. We all went to Jade Buffet for lunch, since we were running a little late (the movie was at 1:40PM), we figured self-service was the quickest option. I wasn’t hungry at all since I had a HUGE breakfast and knew I wouldn’t get my moneys worth at a buffet, so I didn’t eat then. The movie turned out to be pretty cute. What’s not to love about singing chipmunks (and chipette’s for that matter
)?

The Squeakquel.
After the movie, I was starvin’ marvin and we went home where I snacked on some veggies & hummus, and maybe an apple if I remember correctly? My parents were going to the Hershey Bears Hockey Game with my aunt and uncle, and my middle sister was going to hang out with a friend, so I decided to take my youngest sister out for some fun shopping and sisterly bonding
There were deals, galore! She got an adorable zebra coat at Wet Seal and two tshirts at Hollister, while I got a pair of jeans at Hollister for $12.90 and a cute hoodie at Victoria’s Secret. We had fun. Then we came back to the house and I made her a Reece’s milkshake with my new blender.
Sunday…
morning we had Sunday school at 9AM and then church immediately following at 10AM, just like every other Sunday. After church, it was the typical choir practice until about 12:00, when I came home and ate lunch with the family. After lunch we took all the ornaments and decorations off of our dead Christmas tree and got ready for the littlest sisters’ basketball practice at 2:00PM. My Dad asked my middle sister and I to come and help out which was a lot of fun. I will never turn down the chance to play some basketball. It wasn’t so good on the back, but I was glad to get up and moving around for a mini workout. Practice was over by 3:30PM when we came home and played games with some friends who are more like brothers to us. Apples to apples was played until about 6:00PM when we finally decided to get the leftovers out (for the third meal in a row) to eat for dinner. I again did not participate in the leftover eating, but they did a nice job cleaning out the refrigerator!! Way to go, boys
After dinner, we watched Finding Nemo together and I made everyone milkshakes. We had everything from Chocolate Reece’s to Mint Chocolate Chip Shakes and I even made a Chocolate Strawberry! They really liked them
For myself, I made a slushie combo of ice cubes, SF Baja Bob’s Margarita mix, and some Diet Cherry 7Up! It was pretty good, actually! It made for a nice relaxing transition night back into the work week.
Hope you all had great weekends!
Tonight should be pretty AWESOME considering I’ve got yoga class & girls’ night at my house for the season premier of the Bachelor! Bran, if you’re reading this, you will be missed mucho. WE LOVE YOU
Happy MONDAY.
