Amazing Grass

Posted on

First of all, thank you SO much to Teri Jo from Amazing Grass for giving me the opportunity to review some great products on my blog.  I was thrilled to receive samples of Amazing Meal Powder, Green Superfood Powder, Green Superfood Energy Bars,  Organic Wheat Grass Powder, and Kidz Superfood Powders.  Each of these products have astounding nutritional value and are able to fit individual needs.

Here's the spread

Each of these powder products mixes easily with water or your favorite milk (soy or otherwise) to create a frothy, nutrient packed beverage.  As we all know, sometimes it’s difficult to get the daily reccommended 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables.  With these powder mixes, you get a powerfuly combination of the most nutritious vibrant organic vegetables, cereal grasses, algae, anti-oxidant rich fruits, probiotics and immune boosting support herbs.  As you can imagine, there are endless health benefits of using Amazing Grass supplements:

  • Naturally balanced source of antioxidants, B- vitamins, carotenoids, phytonutrients, enzymes, dietary fiber and essential fatty acids
  •

  • Sustains energy naturally and boosts your immune system
  •

  • Great for detoxifying and cleanses
  •

  • Probiotics and enzymes to aid digestion and absorption
  •

  • Complete raw food with powerful antioxidants
  •

  • Alkaline green plant foods help balance acidic pH levels
  •

  • More organic whole leaf greens per gram than any of the leading ‘green drinks’ – not from juice
  •

  • Featuring Sambazon organic pure acai and organic maca
  •

  • No soy lecithin fillers
  •

  • Non dairy, Gluten free, Non-GMO, Vegan
  •

  • Certified Organic
  • Unlike a multi-vitamin, these products are created by WHOLE foods.  Just one serving gives you the antioxidant equivalent of 7 servings of fruits and vegetables and helps you hit your daily quota.

First, I’ll start off by telling you about my favorite product, the Chocolate Green Superfood.  This stuff was so tasty!  I think the best idea I came up with to try this powder in, was a Strawberry Jayy Robb protein shake.  It was seriously EXACTLY like a chocolate covered strawberry.  The wheat grass taste was unidentifiable (just the way I like it! :) ).  It’s also very versatile though.  I also LOVED it mixed into my banana whip (frozen, purreed banana).

The Chocolate & Chocolate Peanut Butter Whole Food Energy Bars were yummy too!  I wasn’t a fan of the Original and the Berry flavors, though.   Each bar is loaded with 2/3 of a serving of our Amazing Grass Organic Green SuperFood drink powder.  They are completely raw & unprocessed, which I love!  Each bar contains 230 calories, 9g of fats (healthy omegas), 5g of protein, 27g of sugar (a little on the high side), and 37g of carbs.  They are also gluten and dairy free!  Safe for vegans, too!

Check out the texture on the inside!!

I did like the  chewy, chocolatey taste of the bars, but the ones without chocolate seemed to have a bitter, grittiness to them.  Not sure why?

If you’re a parent of a child that simply opposes the though of eating fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, the Amazing Grass Kidz Superfood has got your back!  While they are not meant to replace the 5-9 servings of fruit & veggies in childrens’ diets, they help supplement and provide insurance that the health promoting benefits of a rainbow colored diet are being achieved when feeding it to them isn’t always possible.  After all, what kid do you know of that would turn down a nice big glass of “chocolate milk”?! :)

Overall, I’d give the chocolate products in the Amazing Grass family a 10/10.  I wasn’t a fan of the flavorless (actual wheat grass) versions, but to each his own!  More power to you if you actually enjoy the taste of grass :)   I love that it’s so easy to get such an array of vitamins and minerals in just one drink, and that you can dress up the powders to create desserts for yourself to enjoy while your body reaps all the benefits of the fruit & vegetable goodness!

If you’d like to try Amazing Grass, you can order it online here!  They even have a convenient sample package for just $3 so you can see if you like it before purchasing an entire canister! :)

    Quick Week!

    Posted on
Well guys, tomorrow is already Friday!  Annnnd it’s a payday for this chica :)   I don’t know about you guys, but having Monday off really make the work week fly by.  I love it!

    Thank you, Mr. MLK Jr.

When I got home from work last night, I made myself a quick snack for workout fuel.  I won Yum Yucky’s Brown Minute Rice giveaway and just received my prize in the mail two days ago!  It was pretty exciting. Anyway, I heated up the rice in the microwave, removing the plastic covering, and then sprinkled a packet of splenda into it with a little bit of cinnamon.  It made for an awesome treat!  It reminded me of rice pudding, actually.

Then I got to work on the exercise bike.  I breaked after I had burned about 300 calories and snacked on a Jonagold Apple that I bought at the Broad Street Market yesterday on my lunch break.  I love the Farmer’s Market.  You can support local farms and get great produce for so much cheaper than in the grocery store!  I bought this apple, 3 kiwi, a box of baby bella mushrooms, a cucumber, a yellow pepper, and some brussel sprouts for about $5!

    Jonagold Apple.

These apples are simply to die for.  My friend, Jan, brought them to our family’s New Year’s Eve party this year with caramel apple dip, but these apples were SO yummy on their own that I couldn’t imagine ruining them with some sugar laden artificial caramel dipping sauce.  Ever since she introduced me to them, I’ve had an eye out for this type of apple.   They never sell them in the grocery store, but I had a feeling if I looked they would have them at market!  I think I literally shrieked a little bit out loud when I spotted them!

Anyway, after refueling, I got back on the bike, facebooked for a little while,  and watched the One Tree Hill episode that I missed since The Bachelor is on at the same time, Monday nights.  Now I’m all caught up!

When I reached about 90 minutes on the bike, I jumped off in excitement, knowing that I wanted to try a recipe I saw at Beek Eats as a side dish for my dinner!

    Behold, brussel chips:

    Crunchy Maply Sprout Leaves.

Yes, that’s right.  They are as tasty as they look!  And SO easy to make.   All you do is de-leaf the brussel sprouts (I only used about 6 sprouts).

    Raw Brussel Chips

I tossed these little guys in a large ziplock baggie, drizzled a little bit of Log Cabin SF pancake syrup in the bag along with a splash of balsamic vinegar to coat.  Then, I spread them on a non-stick baking sheet and baked them in the oven until browned.  The oven was at about 350° for about 20 minutes.  You can experiment with oven times based on your particular appliance.

I showered while they were cooking and then threw together this bowl of raw veggies to accompany the brussel chips, swimming in some strawberry balsamic dressing.  I also added 1/2 C. butter beans to the dish for protein!

Broccoli, carrots, snap peas, orange pepper, and tomato.

For dessert, I ate these AWESOME sugar free black cherry jello bites from Sheetz.  I ate the entire bag for just 45 calories!

    J-E-LL-OOOO :)

We enjoyed watching the little sister’s basketball game and they really kicked butt last night.  My friend, Rachael came with us to the game and it was a good time.  When we got home, I packed my lunch & prepped my breakfast for today.

    Breakfast:

1/2 C. FF cottage cheese + 1/4 C. blueberries + drizzle of SF syrup + fiber one topping (unpictured)

Lunch:  Same as yesterday.  Sorry I’m a boring lunch blogger.  I’ll make up for it at dinner, promise! :)

There are some great giveaways going on today, two at Krittie’s site!  This one for Vitatops really has my hopes up!  And you’ve gotta check out the one she’s doing for Barney Butter! There’s also a Chobani giveaway going on at Crunches for Cupcakes  by Melissa, so be sure to enter!

    Have a fantastic day!
