Mission: Save Someone.

Posted on

My FAVORITE part of these posts is always at the beginning.  It’s what starts my day off on the right foot and puts my focus in the right place.  It helps me remember what’s MOST important in life and reminds me of the REAL reason why I’m even here.

This morning, it was said best by another favorite, Chris Tomlin.

Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy rains
Unending love, Amazing grace

2 Lite Van’s waffles with a Morningstar maple flavored sausage all drizzled in 1/4 C. Sugar Free Log Cabin

After all, is it really going to matter what we had for breakfast that day, when we get to heaven?

I mean, shouldn’t we be a little more concerned with whether our best friends and loved ones will be joining us when God calls us home?

1 C. Unsweet Almond Breeze + 1 tbsp. SF strawberry syrup

Life is here and gone in an instant.  Compared to eternity, our lives are just TINY little specks of time.  What will YOUR life reflect?  God’s love is my goal!

1 La Tortilla Factory Original wrap stuffed with spinach, tomato, turkey breast, and garlic hummus.

You’re probably wondering what triggered all of these thoughts.   The series that I’ve been going to listen to at Christian Life Assembly this month has been all about the “Beginning & The End“.  I know personally, I lose sight of the BIG picture.  Our purpose while we’re here on Earth is to share the Word with everyone.

Lunch side salad with spinach, broccoli, yellow & red tomato, sliced orange pepper, and cucumber dressed up with balsamic vinegar & sugar free strawberry syrup.

Folks, in a nutshell, GOD LOVES YOU.  He WANTS to save you.  He sent his ONLY son to die on a cross for YOUR sins.  Who can say they would EVER be able to sacrifice their own child for a stranger

Juicy peach

All you have to do is ask Him to forgive you from your sins and to come into your life and be PART of it.  He is the ONE person you will ALWAYS be able to count on.  Prayer and faith are two things that NO ONE can ever take away from you.  Two of the most powerful things in the world

1/2 C. fat free ricotta cheese with 1 slice of Manna Organic sprouted bread crumbled ontop with 2 tbsp. no sugar added apple butter

I know I’m not perfect.  Not EVEN CLOSE.  I screw up ALL the time.  My attitude isn’t always positive.  I say things I don’t mean.  My mind isn’t always pure.

But God took our punishment for usHow amazing is that?!  We should be wanting to tell EVERYONE we meet how awesome our Savior is, right?

Guys, it’s not about RELIGION.  It’s about TRUTH.  The truth is, we have to make a decision for ourselves to follow Christ.  Regardless of what “denomonation”, the facts are the facts.

“Jesus wants a relationship with you, but He’s not going to force it. The decision is up to you. You can accept what Jesus has done for you, or you can reject it. You can put your trust in Jesus, or you can trust some other plan. You can meet Jesus, or turn away. There is a day coming when time shall come to an end and all people who don’t know Jesus will stand before God in judgment.

If you don’t accept Jesus, you will stand alone before God. You’ll have to bear the consequences, which the Bible tells us involves eternity in hell, forever separated from God. (See Revelation 20:11-12.)

You may think that you’re not ready to make a decision about Jesus, or that it’s no big deal and you can choose later. But not choosing is the same as rejecting. So before you put off deciding, take some time to really think about it.

But when you do accept Jesus, it’s a different story. Jesus is sitting by God’s side right now as your representative, sticking up for you because you know Him. You won’t have to bear the consequences of your sin because Jesus already has. One day you will be welcomed into heaven and spend eternity with God. (See Romans 8:33-34.)”

Woo Hoo Foods: Gudernoobs

Posted on

Talk about a food revolution…These Woo Hoo Foods will change the way you think about candy…Jaime Oliver would TOTALLY approve of these delicious little snacks.  Thanks so much to Holly and Woo Hoo Foods for sharing some Gudernoobs with me for this review!

First, a little bit about the company!  They’re on a mission to move children and adults away from “the empty calories of processed junk food made in a lab and back to the nourishing ingredients of real food” and help us realize that nutritious snacks can be delicious, too!

I mean, check out the flavors!  If these don’t spell out: DESSERT, I don’t know what does!

The ingredients lists are PHENOMONAL and are the definition of healthy…here’s a comparison of the “rival snacks” vs. this WHOLE FOODS snack.

Considering the ingredients, I never would’ve guessed they would be SO candy-like.  It just goes to show that we’ve got ALL we need to fuel our bodies with the natural foods that God has provided us with!

Here are the NUTRITIONAL STATS for your viewing pleasure.  The proof is in the numbers, folks.  They provide fiber (apples, dates, bananas, oatmeal), antioxidants, and omega-3 fatty acids (flax)!

Now for the taste!  They are particularly delicious alllll on their own, however you can mix them into things like oats, too, if you want to crumble them up.  They’ve got the consistency of a larabar!  Kind of moist and dense!  I’m a huge fan of date based snacks because they are SO sweet it tastes sinful.  These little bite sized babies are perfect for fueling a workout and throwing in your gym bag for some quick energy because of the natural sugars, too!  KIDS LOVE THEM.

My favorite was the Awesome Apple Cider!  It reminded me of the Apple Pie larabar, actually.  Again, thank you to Woo Hoo foods and Holly for the supplies! :)

Don’t Judge A Book By It’s Cover.

Maker of heaven, giver of life
You are my strength, my song in the night
My refuge, my shelter
Now and forevermore
My help comes from the Lord

When I’m broken, scarred by sin
Death gives way to life again
When I suffer, when I’m bound
In You I’m free, in You I’m found

Some of the most delicious breakfasts come in the ugliest forms.  I wish I knew how to beautify my oats the way Kath does, but so far, I’m content to just enjoy the taste.

1/3 C. rolled oats, 1/2 C. water, 1/3 C. lowfat milk, 1 tsp. chia seeds, 1 tbsp. sf vanilla Torani, 1/2 sliced peach, 1 egg white, a sprinkle of baking powder, & 3/4 scoop Vanilla Chai Amazing Meal.  Sugar free Log Cabin syrup drizzled ontop with a sprinkling of cinnamon.

I microwaved this tupperware container of glorious oats in the microwave for about 2 minutes on power level 7.  You have no idea how hard it was to wait until I got to work to break into the dish.  I think the key to successful oats is to add a hint & pinch of SEVERAL ingredients.  It was like a warm, sweet peach custard dessert.

My boss and I ran out around 12PM to grab some lunch from Simply Turkey.  I wasn’t allowed to pay, because it was my “birthday treat“.  Thanks Bosssssss :)  Speaking of boss, that’s what I ordered.  The BOSS salad-you choose whateverrrrrr toppings you want.  I chose baby spinach & spring mix as my base topped with peppers, tomato, carrots, cukes, broccoli, and chickpeas with Fat Free Tomato-Basil dressing on the side and a slice of multi-grain bread to round out the meal.  I LOVE seedy, grainy bread like that!

On the way home, I stopped at a local produce (self-serve) stand.

ALLL this for about $6=WIN.  HUGE zucchini

& sweet onion,

summer squash, cucumber, yellow cherry tomatoes, 3 sweet white peaches, & a red bell pepper.  The price was SO right ;)  I planned on putting them to good use for dinner.

When I got home from work, it was SO nice not to have a schedule.  After snacking on the above juicy ‘loup and some chocolate in Vitatop form.

I picked up the little seester from basketball pratice and headed home for a little Insanity action.  I am a HUGE fan of Cardio Abs.  It was a quick, yet totally effective workout.  It works ALL angles of your abs: obliques, lower abs, and upper all in about 15 minutes.  Then I hit the bike & the books.

I used the time on the stationary bike to take advantage and get ahead in class by reading The Rising Tide by Jeff ShaaraAnyone read this book?  So far it’s pretty enticing.  I love an author who knows how to use his adjectives, making it easier to feel part of the story.  I’m not one for war novels, but since it’s required, I guess I’ll deal ;)

I got hungry while biking so I took a rest to make some dinner, utilizing the goodies that I purchased earlier.

It came together quite nicely in the end.  I didn’t have lettuce/spinach for salad base, so I got creative and took a vegetable peeler to the zucchini for some long, curly strings to base the rest on.  I diced up the red pepper, cucumber, and some onion with a few cherry tomatoes in the mix and for protein, I put some sliced grilled chicken on the top.  The dressing is some hummustard (patented by heabs ;)

Afterward, I still had some reading to do, so I headed back to the basement for some extra biking & reading.

Turns out 40 minutes of reading and biking doesn’t get you all that far.  Oh well!

A little while later, I snacked on some Finlandia Reduced Fat Swiss

Sometimes I just crave dairy like its no one’s business.

Then I decided to brew some coffeee for refrigerating.  Although, I’m thinking we’re nearing the end of iced coffee season!

Since I’m avoiding diet soda at all costs, I’ve gotta get my caffeine some way!!

Next, I showered and ate dessert

aka a Peanut Butter Chocolate Vitatop.

Annnndd that’s all folks!!  The boyyy comes home from school this weekendd and we are going rock n’ bowling with the “surrogates” :)  I can’t wait!  Also in the mix is going to be hiking & a family birthday party.

Any exciting weekend plans, bloggies?

Stay tuned & happy Friday!!!  Be sure to enter Evan’s CSN Stores giveaway! AND wish a Happy Two Year Blogiversary to Holly while entering her contest!

XOXO.

Starbucks Natural Fusions

Posted on

From the coffee gurus who have brought to life the inner joe lovers in all of us, Starbucks now brings to life a new line of delicious natural infusion blends of beans.  I expected nothing less than perfection from this créme de la créme of a company and was definitely not disappointed.

Thank you SO much to the company & Kevin, who sent me these three blends to review!

First, I’d like to point out that each of these had an unbelievable aroma to them.  It completely capitvated my senses while it was brewing, giving my tastebuds VERY high hopes.

Each of these flavors was made with particular care.  They take one specific roast and compliment it with one of the following flavor enhancers:  Vanilla, Caramel, and CinnamonWhat’s not to love?!

The inspiration behind the Vanilla flavor was actually the vanilla bean pod itself.  “Subtle, sweet, creamy, slightly woody, and floral”.  Imagine sniffing a pure bottle of vanilla extract and you’ll have an idea of what this lightly roasted Latin American coffee boasts.  Classic!

The Caramel flavored inspiration was a bit more of an indulgent finding…the clasic, Starbucks caramel sauce found in stores.  “Very rich, smooth, buttery, and sweet with a slight burnt sugar taste”.  This blend is truly enhanced by toastiness of the Dark roast Latin American coffee it is based on.  In addition there is a touch of licorice root added for sweetness!

The Cinnamon flavor of the Natural Infusions from my beloved Starbies was created with dark-roasted Latin American coffee.  To describe the cinnamon inhanced beverage, imagine if an ooey, gooey cinnamon roll and a red hot had a baby together.  In my opinion, the perfect mate for a tall cup of this version would be a crumbly, sugar coated slice of coffee cake!  Hints of orange peel also poke through!

I love that these coffees taste totally gourmet and indulgent, yet you can brew them in your own home.  As of June 1st, they were available at the grocery store!  Try some ICED!  It’s a delicious, refreshing treat that you can enjoy DAILY.  If you need a bit of sweetness, try some Splenda or sugar free syrup to the coffee!  It’ll do the trick ;)

Verse of the Day:

“Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

- Romans 12:4-5

Isn’t it awesome how God uses each of us in a different way?  He gave us all different abilities and talents to work for His good.  Imagine if we ALL utilized our gifts for His glory!?  This world would be a great place to live.

Forgive the photos for today, as I was testing out the camera on my new phone.  They are ALL from the Samsung Captivate, which didn’t do a shabby job, might I add.

Breakfast was dug into at my desk around 8AM.   Running late calls for Chobani & Fiber Bran cereal.

For my mid morning snack, I needed a litttle sumthin’ sumthin’ so I grabbed a 100 calorie pack of cocoa roasted almonds to munch at my desk.  One of my favorite forms of chocolate for sure!

Before I knew it lunchtime had rolled around and I was a little over excited to take photos of my lunch.  It has been far too long since I’ve had tofu in my life and this lunch was totally going to fill the void thanks to Helen’s Kitchen.

1 Tofu Steak, a handful of lima beans, & steamed veggies (broccoli, snap peas, carrots, & cauliflower) all drizzled in some soy sauce mixed with SF syrup, chili powder & minced garlic.

The money shot.  Pretty sure I’m getting the hang of this camera phone thing!  Any tips?

Mid-afternoon snack was some fresh cantaloupe just sliced in the morning!

Sucks that I had to use the same lame background for all my photos, being that they were all eaten at work!  Ew.

After work, I knew I wanted to get a little INSANE before class at 7PM, so I went directly home and had a little preworkout fuel courtesy of Bora Bora Foods!  They sent me a few of their new bars to review and I cannot WAIT to try them all….Check it out:

Volcanic Chocolate Banana

Yes, that’s right.  This baby is DELICIOUS.  Full reviews to come ;)

After Insanity, I biked for a little bit while I caught up on some emails, etc.  After showering, I got a quick bite to eat for dinner and headed out the door.

V8 Garden Broccoli soup & grilled chicken was on the menu!

When I got home, around 8:30PM and ate a buncha grapes (literally :)) & a ww english muffin smeared with pb & banana.

A carb coma was induced and after a little bit of “housekeeping”.

I’ve been having trouble sleeping lately, and I’m not sure why.  I wake up two and three times a night?!?  Before you ask, no, it’s not always to go to the bathroom, although I always try.  I’ve also thought about my caffeine intake, but have been tracking it, and am SURE that is not the problem.  I think it might have something to do with my thyroid condition/medicine?  I don’t know…Does anyone else have these issues?

XOXO.

Do You Dew?

Posted on

This morning, I’m bringing you lyrics from Addison Road (another beloved group from the Word FM) that I love so much.  These thought provoking songs that I hear on the way to work, I cannot help but share with you.

“I made You promises a thousand times
I tried to hear from Heaven
But I talked the whole time
I think I made You too small
I never feared You at all No
If You touched my face would I know You?
Looked into my eyes could I behold You?
What do I know of You
Who spoke me into motion?
Where have I even stood
But the shore along Your ocean?
Are You fire? Are You fury?
Are You sacred? Are You beautiful?
What do I know? What do I know of Holy?”

I love the second line where it says “I tried to hear from Heaven but I talked the whole time“.  That is SO me.  I pray and pray and pray, but don’t let God talk to me!  I’m terrible at keeping up with scripture reading, so how do I expect to hear from Him?!

Anyway…on to the more trivial question of the day, revolving around this neon green drug.

Obviously, we know soda is bad for us in general, but lately I’ve been questioning just HOW bad.  SOOO many different curiosities that I’d like your opinions on!  I’ve researched a bit on my own, finding things that I’ve already known to be true such as the ridiculous amount of caffeine, aspartame (artificial sweeteners), and chemicals found in my favorite vice: Diet Mountain Dew.  But I also found that 40% of diet soda drinkers are MORE LIKELY to become obese!!! That scares me more than anything!

Ingredients

Carbonated Water, Concentrated Orange Juice, Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Citrus Pectin, Potassium Benzoate (Preserves Freshness)Aspartame, Potassium Citrate, Caffeine, Sodium Citrate, Acesulfame Potassium, Sucralose, Gum Arabic, Sodium Benzoate (Preserves Freshness)Calcium Disodium EDTA (to Protect Flavor)Brominated Vegetable Oil, Yellow 5.

It’s virtually calorie free, but that is about the only good thing I can say about it.  I’ve heard many strong opinions on the topic concerning diet soda in general, the most frequent being that it’s like “poison“.   Needless to say, I think this is a bit dramatic, and figure that with my clean eating, this minor weakness can’t kill me, right?   I mean, it’s not like I’m a “chain drinker”, chugging five of these babies a day!
