Sledding & A Swim Meet.

Posted on

After the egg making the night before, I thought for sure I’d have a rough 8:30AM yoga class.  After all, we were at the church wrapping up eggs until about 12:15AM!  I know, I’m such a grandma!

I actually woke up around 7:30 and decided to take advantage of the time by making some pancakes!

Batter Blaster = the best product EVER.
Nom. Nom.

Anyway, yoga went until 9:30AM and it was a pretty good class!  I like to leave feeling like I worked my muscles and I did Saturday.  My favorite classes involve lots of sun salutations.

Going into down dog.

Down dog, shifted forward to plank.

From there, you can do side planks, triangles, or up dog (my favorite).

I had packed my Under Armour cold gear for after yoga class so I could run straight from the church where our class is held, in town, and back home.  It’s nice that my Mom and I can go to yoga together :)   She’s so sweet, she even takes my yoga clothes home for me so I don’t have to carry them on my back while I run.  :)   I went for about 6 miles, total.

Lemongrass Mint Vanilla Herbal Water

When I got home, I downed an Ayala’s Herbal Water & a Jonagold before hopping on the stationary bike for a quick 200 calorie burn.

My friend Jonny :)

After the quick burn, I got a quick shower and started prepping for my younger cousin’s swim meet over at the YMCA in Elizabethville.  She has really been improving her times!  I’m so proud of her.  Not to mention, she’s adorable :)

After the meet, our families went sledding together.

All bundled up! :)

All my underarmour gear was dirty from my run in the morning, so I opted for a snow suit.  Haha.  I felt goofy, but it was just with family so it’s all good.  I stayed warm, that’s for sure!

Check out the beauty that I’m surrounded with!

Isn’t it gorgeous!?

After sledding, we came home and I made some dinner for myself.  It was a mix of cucumbers, carrots, hard boiled eggs, and cottage cheese.

Din din.

With a side of:

light wheat english muffin.

To top off a fun-filled day, my little sister, best friend, and I went to see Dear, John at 7:45PM.  We had an awesome time.  I had already read the book, and was a little disappointed by the lack of detail in the movie, but overall I thought it was pretty good!  I think I had more of an appreciation for the characters having read about them first.  Definite tear-jerker, though!  It was really well cast, too.  Channing Tatum never disappoints ;)

When we got home, I was definitely ready for bed!

Snow Dayy!

Posted on
I just kept thinking to myself yesterday morning, when is it going to stop?!
Thankfully, we were called off work.  I think it was kind of mandatory being that the entire state was basically in a snow emergency.  Spendell finally made a rational decision for once :)

Crazy amounts of snow in Central PA!

I got to sleep in until about 9:15AM, when I simply couldn’t sleep anymore.  I tottered out to the kitchen in my jammies rubbing my eyes and decided it was the perfect morning for pancakes.  Batter Blaster pancakes, to be exact:

4 small pancakes = 160 calories!

With sugar free log cabin syrup!  Perfect comfort food for eating while watching the snow fall out my window.

Then I was bored.  I knew I wanted to wait until later to go outside and enjoy the snow, so I went downstairs to get in an early workout on the stationary bike.  I caught up on One Tree Hill, since I’ve been missing it due to the competition with The Bachelor & girls’ night.  This guy is such a charmer ;)

Julian (Brooke's man)

600 calories and 1 1/2 hours later, when I was finished drooling over cutie pie up there, I was finished with my workout and needed a quick shower.  By the time I was all cleaned up and squeaky clean, it was time for lunch!  The family ate BLTs (bacon, lettuce, & tomato sandwiches) with creamy potato soup.  But I had something different on the brain.  I’ve been wanting to try this ever since I saw it on Janetha’s blog!  I swear we share tastebuds. :)

I adapted my own version because of lack of greek yogurt in my refrigerator, but managed to make it just as yummy!  I’m really sad that I couldn’t upload my pictures (STUPID COMPUTER) but I’ll give you the ingredients so you can try it for yourself! It was awesome!

Buffalo Chicken Salad Sandwich!

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 C. Fat Free Cottage Cheese
  • 1/2 Tsp. Ranch Seasoning
  • 1 Can Swanson Chunk Chicken Breast in Water
  • 1 Tsp. Texas Pete Hot Sauce
  • 1 Thomas 100 Calorie Smart Start English Muffin
  • 2 Slices Tomato

Directions:

Combine first four ingredients in a small bowl.  Halve the english muffin and top each with mixture.  Top each with a tomato slice.

As soon as I can, I will upload these pics.  It was AWESOME.

With some salt n' pepper.

I also had some steamfresh veggies on the side in my big old Prgresso Soup mug that I won from Yum Yucky :)

It was a well rounded lunch!  I proceeded to unload and reload our dishwasher to help out the Momma.  Then I put some laundry away and cleaned up a bit.  I finally got my Under Armour gear on and headed out for a nice brisk 5 mile walk.  I took my camera and have lots of amazing pictures, but unfortunately they would not upload either!  Hopefully I can get this resolved tonight when I get home.  I love the way things look in the snow.  At mile #2, I passed my uncles house and stopped in to say hello.  My grandparents were there and I visited for a little while.   I wanted to make sure I was home by dark though, so I didn’t stay long.

Leaving their house, I jogged the rest of the way home :)    A good three miles.  I passed some guys out shoveling/plowing and they were yelling things to me like “keep smiling” and “I thought I was hardcore“…haha.  I just can’t stand sitting around all day!  My Mom was working on taxes, my Dad was snow blowing, and my sister was on her computer all day.

When I got home I refueled with some frozen grapes

nom, nom.

and coffee.

I sat down until about 6:30, watching NCIS with the little sis.  I got the munchies and decided to make a dinner of some loose veggies & salsa along with two 97% fat free Hebrew National Franks (40 cals. each)

BEST salsa in the world: Newman's Own Pineapple!

Veggie love.

After dinner, I vegged out for awhile, until the little sis got hungry for a milkshake.  I made her a chocolate covered strawberry milkshake and then made a plain chocolate one for my Mom, as requested.

My snacK?

My Man, Orville has got my back ;)

A 100 calorie pack of Orville Reddenbacher KETTLE CORN!  Mmmm.   The perfect combo of sweet and salty :)   Then I went into a carb coma around 10PM, hoping for a delay from work in the morning and slept like a babe.

Batter Blaster is the most awesome product I have gotten to review for awhile, thanks to MonicaHomemade pancake taste in the convenience of a recyclable, steel can.  Not to mention the awesome nutritional value!  Each can is USDA Certified Organic, combining the following ingredients for a spectacular final product:

Filtered water
Organic wheat flour (unbleached)
Organic cane sugar
Organic whole egg solids
Organic soybean powder
Sodium lactate (lactic acid from beet sugar)
DiCalcium phosphate (leavening agent)
Sea salt
Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
Organic rice bran extract

Talk about wholesome! And they are simple to make!  So easy, a caveman could do it :)

A-B-C, easy as 1-2-3, oh, simple as do-re-mi, a-b-c, 1-2-3...

They’re so much fun, too!  It’s just a game of point and shoot!  You can even customize them yourself!  Just add blueberries, bananas, carob chips, strawberries, or whatever else your little heart desires to the pan prior to adding the batter!  It’s only a matter of minutes before you’ve got yourself a healthy, melt-in-your-mouth breakfast with the help of this handy can.

Batter Blaster speaks for itself! :)

You can even use it in a waffle iron to create homecooked waffles!

It can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store (typically with eggs, cheese & butter!).  If you need help locating a grocery store that carries it near you, you can simply check online!  They’ve got a pretty nifty recipe page as well that is sure to please the crowds! :)
