In my opinion, the Clif Bar family hits the nail on the head with their food philosophy:
“Good food provides health, joy, and energy, and is a delight to the senses. And food, made right, can make the world a better place. That’s why we use organic ingredients in all our products. Food grown organically – without the use of toxic pesticides or synthetic chemicals – is better for the planet, the body and the soul. And all our food is free of trans fats, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup. We recognize that food matters to our families, or communities, and our planet – as our food choices affect the physical, social, and environmental fabric of our lives”.
With a philosophy like that, who could deny that their foods are made with the highest quality and care, keeping in mind all of the aspects of life that it affects? Not to mention, if you asked me to tell the difference between flavors of a Clif Bar and a candy bar, I couldn’t! Clif bar makes a product for each one of your needs, too! Whether you’re looking for an entirely natural energy bar, a whole nutrition bar for women, a sweet & salty snack, hydration for sustained performance, or nourishment for your little ones health, Clif Bar has got your back! They make several different varieties of bars including: the Clif Bar, the Luna Bar, the Nectar Bar , the Mojo Bar, Clif Quench, Clif Z Bars, Builder Bars, and Shot Roks.
I had the privelage of sampling the Luna Bars, Clif Bars, and Mojo Bars, all of which I found to taste incredible. The Clif Bars came in handy when I was running from work to the gym and needed that extra energy boost! I received four of these. One in Blueberry Crisp, one in Oatmeal Raisin Walnut, one in Crunchy Peanut Butter, and one in White Chocolate Macadamia. I have yet to be disappointed in any flavor of the Clif Bars. They were each texturally perfected and the flavors could not have been better identified. Calories ranged from 230-250 depending on the flavor with 5-7g of fat (0-1.5 saturated, 4-5g of fiber, 9-11g of protein, and tons of vitamins and minerals! The White Chocolate Macadamia were definitely my favorite. It tasted just like a cookie! It had tons of nut chunks in it too, which I loved! Now for the performance, I’ll have you know, I ran my personal best in my five mile after consuming one of these scrumptous bars! 30.27, baby! If you’re looking for quick, sustained energy, these guys are the way to go!
I would really LOOOOOVE to try the Banana Nut Bread or the Carrot Cake in the near future, but unfortunately I’ve searched high and low in stores around my area, and cannot find them anywhere. Maybe I’ll get lucky and my generous buddies at Clif Bar will send me these flavors to review?! We’ll see…
But seriously, how can you argue with nutritional stats like these?
I also got to try my second favorite of the Clif family, which was the Mojo Bar! I typically packed these for “in between” meals, or snacks. They come in four flavors: Honey Roasted Peanut, Mixed Nuts, Mountain Mix, and Peanut Butter Pretzel. They also make Mojo Dipped bars in Chocolate Peanut, Penaut Butter & Jelly, and Fruit & Nut. My two favorites were the Peanut Butter Pretzel and the Peanut Butter & Jelly Dipped! They were both mouthwatering. The Peanut Butter Pretzel reminded my of Trader Joe’s peanut butter filled pretzels! They were the perfect combination of crunchiness and chewiness. And who could go wrong with adding chocolate to the classic PB&J?! I’m definitely a fan of the sweet & salty mix of these Mojo bars. They are also made with 70% organic ingredients! The calorie content varied from 180-210 depending on the flavor, with 8-11g of fat (1.5-3.5g saturated), 8-10g of protein, 2-3g of fiber, and NO high fructose corn syrup or trans fats!
I used the Luna Bars as part of my “on-the-go” convenient breakfasts if I was running short on time. This variety of the Clif Bar was specially created by women, for women. They are very high in calcium and folic acid, and are made entirely of natural ingredients. My favorite part: most of these bars include chocolate! 🙂 The flavors are: Berry Almond, Caramel Nut Brownie, Chai Tea, Chocolate Peppermint Stick, Chocolate Raspberry, Cookies N’ Creme Delight, Dulche De Leche, Iced Oatmeal Raisin, Lemonzest, Nutz Over Chocolate, Peanut Butter Cookie, S’mores, Toasted Nuts & Cranberry, and White Chocolate Macadamia. I got to try three of these guys. They weren’t my favorite Clif Bar, but they weren’t bad by any stretch! I think my favorite flavor was the Nutz Over Chocolate. I’m a big texture person, so the more, the better 🙂 I like crunch and chew all combined. With calorie counts from 170-190 these bars had 3.5-7g of fat (0-2.5g saturated), 8-9g of protein, and 3g of fiber. None of them tasted bad, but they didn’t keep me full for very long. I needed a piece of fruit with them if I was going to make a breakfast out of it.
The only thing that disappointed me about the Clif Bars, is that the same three varieteies are the only ones I can find in stores near me. Not that I dislike these flavors, but I’d like to change it up a bit! If you’re having the same issue, I’ve learned that you can order them online here at the Clif Bar Store! 🙂
A BIG thank you goes out to Dean at Clif Bar for sending me these samples to try! They were ALL great.
