Dei Fratelli

Many thanks to Jessica who sent me some Dei Fratelli products for review!

First of all, Dei Fratelli takes pride in using the absolute finest ingredients possible and produce tomato products that are grown from seedlings that they cultivated themselves!

They make all kinds of salsas, pasta sauces, juices, and whole canned tomatoes with their produce.  I got to try each of the salsa varieties: Chipotle Medium, Casera Mild, Casera Medium Hot, Black Bean & Corn, Original Medium, and Original Mild.

Each one was great, but I can only tolerate so much heat.  The Chipotle Medium was a little to spicy for my tastebuds, but my favorite, the Black Bean & Corn flavor was spot on!

It’s described as:

“A delightful blend of black beans and roasted corn carefully blended with tomatoes and peppers to create a family favorite for generations to come.”

With just 15 calories, 0g of fat, and 1g of protein in each tablespoon, the stats are pretty great, too!  Each of the other salsa varieties only had 5-10 calories in each serving!

Look at the chunks of veggies!

In the mix there were awesome ingredients!

Ingredients: Tomatoes, Onions, Roasted Red Bell Pepper, Chipotle Seasoning (Chilies, Sugar, Spices, Dehydrated Garlic, Dehydrated Onion, Natural Flavors), Vinegar, Roasted Garlic, Salt, Chipotle Puree (Water, Chipotle Jalepeno, Tomato Paste, Spices, Dehydrated Onion, Dehydrated Garlic), Spices, Citric Acid

How can you go wrong with a lineup like that?!

Then, there were the pasta sauces.  These were ROCKIN’.  Especially the Tomato & Basil.

Honestly, this stuff is good on EVERYTHING.  I ate it mixed with cottage cheese, broccoli slaw, as a dipper for veggies, on top of english muffins, etc.  You name it.  It has a sweetness to it that I was obsessed with.  I think I finished off an entire container in two days.  The basil was really robust and added to the flavor a ton! 

The best thing is, it was only 60 calories per 1/2 C. serving with 2g of protein and the ingredients list made it seem so simple!

Ingredients: Crushed Tomatoes, Diced Tomatoes, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Sugar, Basil, SeaSalt, Onions, Garlic, Citric Acid, Oregano, Spices.

These people are GIFTED. 

Also, the canned tomatoes were VERY tasty.  I ate them all by themselves.  Straight from the can.  Yeah, I know I’m classy like that 😉  I couldn’t help it!  The flavor was amazing.

Ever since I’ve tried these, I find myself picking up random cans of stewed tomatoes at the grocery store to eat as snacks.  They’re also great for making chili or soup, throwing in a skillet with eggs for a veggie omelette, or even creating your own bruschetta!  Totally versatile products!
