Everyone knows that soybeans are good for you, but I’ll bet there’s a lot about this “Wonder Veggie” that you aren’t aware of!  I learned alot on the Seapoint Farms website about the soybeans that they use in their crunchy, flavorful snack products like Kooloos and Dry Roasted Edamame!

Quick facts on Edamame:

  • It is a complete protein containing all the essential amino acids.
  • It is the only vegetable that offers a complete protein profile equal to both meat and eggs in its protein content.
  • It is rich in calcium, iron, zinc, and many of the B vitamins.
  • It is the the richest dietary source of isoflavones, which act as Phytoestrogens that may help protect against cancer, osteoporosis.

Seapoint Farms make it EASY to incorporate this powerhouse food into your daily diet with savory snacks like these Kooloos!  They come in three varieties:  Honey BBQ, Salsa, and Original.  They combined organic roasted soybeans with organic ground flaxseed and spices to create a crunchtastic baked snack that is great for topping salads, in place of croutons, or even eating by the handful!

Salad topped with Honey BBQ Kooloos!

I really enjoyed all the flavors and had a hard time picking a favorite, but again, the sweet/salty combination of the Honey BBQ really won me over.  The spiciness of the Salsa was really good too, though!

The most amazzzzing crunch factor!

The nutrition facts are almost as great as the taste!

From left to right, we’ve got Honey BBQ, Original, and Salsa.  The protein and fiber counts are outstanding

Now, on to the Dry Roasted Edamame.

Lightly Salted

I got to try the “Lightly Salted” version, but they also come in a “Goji Blend” and “Wasabi” varieties!

Nutritionally, these puppies are TOTALLY protein/fiber dense:

Tastewise, I could munch on them alllll day.  It was really hard to stick to single servings….my hand just kept wanting to reach in the bag for more!  I’d much rather eat these snacks than potato chips anyday!  They were SOOO filling, too!  The perfect “hold me over” snack.

On their website, you can find a store locator and a page with some really neat recipes!  I can’t wait to try some of them out with my edamame!

Thanks so much, Seapoint Farms for sending them my way!
