Enjoy Life Foods Not Nuts! Seed & Fruit Mixes

Posted on

Yet another exciting product from Enjoy Life Foods has been generously sent to me for review!  With the amount of people growing allergic to all types of nuts everyday, it’s always great to have more snacking options with ingredients that are free of nuts.  What I love most about the company is that they use absolutely NOTHING artificial.

Trail mix, one of the BEST snacks in the world and pretty nutritious, too, is known for tasty chocolate morsels, nuts, and fruit…it is the perfectly sweet/salty matchup with a crunch factor that many people LOVE.

Mountain Mambo NOT NUTS Seed & Fruit Mix from Enjoy Life Foods contains a delectable blend of sunflower kernels, pumpkin seeds, raisins, apples, chocolate chips, and cranberries.  I can tell you from experience, you won’t even miss the peanuts 😉  Crunch on a handful for yourself and you’ll see just what I mean.  This stuff is AWESOME blended into cookie batter before baking, too!  The sunflower seeds add a dose of healthy fats, the raisins will plump in the oven, and the chocolate chips will melt in your mouth.

NOT NUTS!  Beach Bash Seed & Fruit Mix is equally delicious, but replaces chocolate chips with dried pineapple & apricots.  With ten less calories per serving being almost the only nutritional difference, both of these mixes can easily be incorporated into your healthy lifestyle.

They are perfect for satisfying a sweet tooth and will keep you full due to the healthy fats, which slow down digestion…not to mention the 2g of fiber & 4-5g of protein in each.  I made myself little yogurt parfaits with this mix, because fruit & yogurt just go together…try this for an awesome breakfast idea:

1 layer of vanilla Chobani
-1 layer of Beach Bash Seed & Fruit Mix
-1 layer of crumbled Enjoy Life Soft Baked Happy Apple cookies
-Repeat x2
-top with 1 tbsp. sunflower butter

Thanks again so much, Alina!

Enjoy Life Foods – NEW Crunchy Cookies

Posted on

Yet another successful newbie in the Enjoy Life Foods family…I present to you, CRUNCHY COOKIES.

In four different varieties, ranging from 110-120 calories per two-cookie serving, I’d say that these cookies will do the least amount of damage to your diet as possible.  Not to mention, they’re safe for those of you leading the dairy, nut, or gluten-free lifestyles.

Now, how do they measure up, tastewise, you might ask?

If you’re expecting a dense, doughy cookie, you may be disappointed.  I realized going into the taste test that obviously, judging by the name, these were not going to be your typical, warm from the oven, gooey cookies.  Rather, they are light, crispy and delicious.

Each of these cookies was yummy all on their own, but if you need to spruce them up a bit, I decided to get creative and list some other ways you can enjoy them each!

If you haven’t realized it yet, I do play favorites.  Of course, my sweet tooth spoke, and the Double Chocolate Crunchy cookies won me over at first bite.  More often than not, I’ve experienced the sad story of a disappointing 100-calorie cookie…about the size of my thumb nail…not these!  They didn’t skimp on the mini chocolate chips, either, which I loved.

Try them
Layer the following in order: Vanilla greek yogurt, sugar-free chocolate pudding, and 2 crumbled Double Chocolate Crunchy cookies.  Top with Cool Whip free and sugar-free chocolate syrup.  (Dirt pudding, anyone?!)

Second fave was the Vanilla Honey Graham.  Anyone remember those Nabisco Teddy Grahams?  I personally, used to eat them like they were going out of style.  I couldn’t get enough!  These remind me a lot of those, flavor-wise.  The cookies do tend to crumble a little bit easier than your typical cookie, but the well-packaged goodies arrived in the mail fully in-tact!  I was impressed.

Try them: Use a sugar-free hot chocolate packet, thinned with just enough water to make a paste, sandwich it between two Vanilla Honey Graham cookies with a few mini marshmallows! (Guilt-free s’mores!)

The Sugar Crisp variety reminded me of a snickerdoodle, more-so than a sugar cookie.  Probably because of the texture, mainly. Have you guys been checking out the ingredients lists below the nutrition facts?  I love that they’re made with a mix of white rice flour, millet flour, and buckwheat flour.  The wholesome ingredients list is such a turn on 😉

Try them: Sandwich style, with peanut flour paste (1/4 C. peanut flour, 1 packet Truvia/Splenda, salt to taste, water to thin)  in the middle.  The salty peanut combined with the sugary cookie is an AWESOME combination.  You can add some sugar-free strawberry jam if you’re feeling frisky.

Last but certainly not least, is the classic Chocolate Chip Crunchy cookie.  Personally, these were last on my list, only because I enjoy the texture of the original chocolate chip cookies…toll house style…ya feel me?  You know what I’m talking about. Dough. Goo. Warmth.  But hey, they’re still tasty…Heck, my sisters had a hayday with this box (and they’re pretty tough critics, considering they buy frozen chocolate chip cookie dough and eat it straight up!)

Try them: Freeze them with sugar-free vanilla ice cream in the middle! A simple, refreshing, fun-to-eat snack for only about 200 calories (if you use 1/2 C. sugar-free ice cream)

I can’t say thank you enough to the company who sent them to me for the review.  Alina is one of the sweetest PR people I’ve ever worked with & Enjoy Life Foods is incredibly generous as a company overall.

Chocolate For Everyone From Enjoy Life Foods

Calling all readers! 🙂  My favorite gluten-free company has added MORE impressive (and delicious!) products to their family of Enjoy Life Foods.

May I present to you, Semi-Sweet Mega  Chocolate Chunks

Never again will you have to miss out on the goodness of a homemade chocolate chip cookie, being that these are dairy, nut, and soyfree!  I know it’s hard to imagine, but they taste JUST like the classic version…possibly even better

They’re also yummy to throw into a trail mix in place of m&m’s or simply eat straight from the bag!  You can basically use them any way you would chocolate chips!

Next up, Double Chocolate Granola!  Who in their right mind would pass up something with a name like that?

This stuff is phenomonal ontop of vanilla or strawberry greek yogurt!  You can also use it as an indulgent topping for banana soft serve!

Annnnd less than 4g of fat per serving?!  That’s my kinda chocolate 😉

You won’t find gluten, dairy, or nuts in this bag of goodness, either!

Every single ingredient is recognizable.  Kuddos to you, Enjoy Life Foods!  Thanks for making such awesome, delicious products that EVERYONE can enjoy, and thank YOU Alina for giving me the opportunity to try them!  🙂

Check them out on Facebook and Twitter!  They’ve even got their own blog!

Enjoy Life Foods New & Improved Cookies!

Posted on

I’ve got a soft spot for baked goods, it’s true.  The more wholesome, the better, which is why Enjoy Life Foods’ new and improved cookies were a perfect fit for me!  Made with natural ingredients, unrefined sweeteners, no trans fats and nothing artificial, they’re a total hit in my household.

Those of you with food allergies to gluten or nuts don’t even need to worry about these, because they’re completely safe for you!

gluten-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, tree-nut free, soy free, egg free and casein-free

snickerdoodle cookies

You may think that since these cookies appear to be the ideal “healthy indulgence“, they may not be quite as moist or tasty as your average cookie…think again, my friend.  They’re totally moist, chewy, and soft.  They almost melt in your mouth!

My second favorite was the Snickerdoodle flavor!  Cinnamon-sugar never tasted SO good together.  Each cookie is only about 65 calories!

Check out those ingredients, too! Nothing shady in the mix 😉

Now for the richest, most decadent cookie in the line of cookies…Double Chocolate Brownie.  Please contain your drool.  If you are a chocolate lover, this cookie is for you.  It is literally stuffed full of chocolate chips which bring the cocoa powdered dough to a whole new level.  This is a real dessert.

The photos don’t do the texture justice either, as beautiful as they are.  The actual cookies are super moist and have that “fresh baked” taste that is normally only found in homemade baked goods.

Last, but not least, we’ve got Lively Lemon.  I was nervous about this one, as I am not a lemon fan, typically.  This cookie actually has lemon granules in it!  The bold, citrus flavor is actually rather charming, unlike what I thought it would be.  Perfect for pairing with tea!

Way to go, Enjoy Life Foods!  🙂  Another winning line of products!

Guys, there are three other flavors that I didn’t get to try out – No-Oats Oatmeal Cookies, Gingerbread Spice and Happy Apple, which I would imagine are JUST as yummy as the others!  Check here to see where you can find them in your area!

Pure In Heart.

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
-Matthew 5:8

As I read todays verse, I couldn’t help but be relieved at what God was saying to me.  I also thought about the fact that for those who have impure motives, this verse may be a bit frightening.  Regardless of the outcome, God knows our intentions and our hearts.  Sometimes I do things with good intentions and end up screwing up pretty badly.

1 scoop Scivation chocolate whey protein, 1 C. fiber select cereal, 3 ice cubes, 3/4 C. unsweet vanilla almond breeze

After all, we’re all human.  Things never work out exactly as we plan them.

Work today was super slow.  I spent most of the day stressing about when I would have time to finish up Christmas shopping.  You know, it probably gets on God’s nerves that we spend so much of this special time of year fretting over things that Christmas isn’t even about.

Chopped romaine, cucumber, yellow pepper, carrots, and fat free balsamic vinaigrette.

Rather than focusing on the birth of our Savior, we’re too wrapped up in the commercialism of Christmas time.  The gifts, the decorations, the parties, and the food.

Cinnamon/splenda chickpeas + sweet potato slices

Don’t get me wrong, I love the family get-togethers, gift giving, cookie baking, and Christmas parties just as much as the next girl.  I’m simply stating that I need to reevaluate my priorities.  I’m not saying it’s wrong to participate in such activities, either!  For some people, though, it all causes an unnecessary amount of stress and thus, we lose sight of the reason for the season.

Pre-gym snack = Justin’s maple almond butter (THE BEST!) + bananer

Enough of the heavy stuff, I suppose.  Now, onto the fun part of my day…BASKETBALL practice…after a quick 10 min. warm up on the Cross Ramp and some ab work on the mats.

We don’t have another game until Jan. 8th, so practice everyday is only about an hour and 1/2 instead of two.  But as you can see, I’m still getting a mega cardio workout.  I forgot to hit “stop”, so naturally it’s showing you that I worked out for 4 hours.  Not the case.  Haha…Two total.

The most famous lazy girl dinner EVER on my blog…Broccoli slaw steamed in the microwave, light ragu, fat free cottage cheese, and garlic lovers Tribe hummus ❤ You don’t have to tell me, I know it looks gross, but it tastes just like lasagna!

Next up, I roasted 1/2 of a small butternut squash sprinkled with paprika, salt, pepper, and chili powder.  I made a little pot of vanilla icing for dippage.  I swear, it was just like Pillsbury, but super healthy.  Just some plain Fage 0% yogurt with sugar free vanilla syrup & cinnamon!

Next, I packed my lunch for the next day, cleaned up the kitchen, and did some things around the house.  I unloaded my gym bag from practice and repacked all my clothes to do the same thing all over again the next day.

Around 8PM, I finally sat my butt down to watch “The Singoff” finale! I hadn’t gotten to see all of the episodes, but I knew that my favorite was Committed.  They are a contemporary christian group that had voices like angels.

The other group was great as well, but they weren’t my favorite.  I snuggled up to watch the show with a warm bowl of oats for dessert.

For the FIRST TIME EVER, I made this bowl on the stovetop.  Beth (SO GLAD YOU’RE BACK!) darling, you were SO right…TOTALLY creamier and more volumnous than the microwave method!  It contained 1/2 C. old fashioned oats, 3/4 C. unsweet almond breeze, and 1 C. water, sugar free vanilla syrup, & cinnamon.  I let it simmer for about ten minutes and then refrigerated it for a little bit to avoid scalding the roof of my mouth.  Mmmmmmmmm.

I also had two squares from this chocolate bar before hitting the pillow!  Chocolate is the best way to end ANY night 🙂

What’s your favorite oatmeal combination?  I know many of you love toppings like nut butters, coconut, sugar free jam, cocoa powder…any weird combinations that you can’t get enough of?!

Enjoy Life Foods No Nuts Blends!

Posted on

Enjoy Life Foods has done it again!  Another fabulous product to add to the shelf of your pantry.  They’ve come up with two ingenious “no nuts” blends for the folks who love trail mixes but can’t do the whole “nuts” thing 😉 Whether it is due to a food allergy, preference, or digestability issues, you no longer have to miss out on the tasty trail mix-like versions of these healthy snacks!

Mainly due to the fact that this medley includes chocolate chips, the Mountain Mambo version was my fave.  In the mix you can find sunflower kernels, pepitas (pumpkin seeds), raisins, dried apples, pineapple, chocolate chips, and cranberries.  The combination of sweet & salty had me at “hello”.

The nutritionals are similar to that of typical trail mix and can run high in calories if you don’t pay attention to serving sizes.  The fats that are missing from the nuts are replaced with that of the seeds, most of which are considered “good fats”.

In concurrence, we have the Beach Bash no nuts mix, comprised of pineapple, sunflower kernels, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, and apricots.  Still yummy, but I found this version to be a poor man’s Mountain Mambo blend, which is odd, because I’ve always considered myself more of a beach person than a mountain man 😉

The calories in this mix went down 10, but the carbs went up 1g?  Probably due to the additional pineapple.  Also, 1g less protein!  These things are great for piling into greek yogurt with cereal, or even making  your own “trail mix” bars for on-the-go treats!  Great on their own, by the handful, too!

As I said before, I enjoyed both of these products, but if you want my honest opinion, the Beach Bash should add a few different ingredients to make it seem more tropical?  How abouts some unsweetened banana & coconut chips?!

Overall, pretty great additions to the Enjoy Life Foods family, especially for those with allergens!  Thanks for sharing these with me, Kasey! 🙂
