Autumn Awhs.

The weekend continued, and so did the fun.  Saturday night, we took a little road trip to the Coliseum and played some games together.  It was fun to just let loose & be goofy.

Neither of us are very good at Guitar Hero, but we had a blast  trying to rock out.  Ha.

 

Have I mentioned how completely in love I am with my best friend?

Jarid got me this little squeezy penguin, which we named Fonzy with our tickets as a prize from the arcade.  I totally felt like a teenager.  It was great.

As you can see, we love him as our own 😉 

Sunday morning, we went to church with my parents for a change at my home church, and then came home to make lunch together.

I had a turkey & hummus sammie on whole wheat bread with a bowl of veggies on the side (mini bell peppers, shredded green leaf lettuce, and english cucumber) with Mango Vinaigrette.

Somehow, almost every picture I take of him, his eyes are almost or completely closed.  Haha.  He spotted a turkey & cheese sub at Giant that he wanted so he snatched it up, along with some chocolate milk and cheese puffs.

After lunch, we took a lovely 5 mile walk around the loop close to my house.  You guys have seen it before, but this time of year, the colors are indescribable.

How stinking gorgeous is this place?  The quaint little valley I live in now will always have a special place in my heart.  It was a wonderful area to grow up in.  Safe, scenic, and comforting.


Annnnndd we’re off to watch football…as it should be on a lazy, Sunday afternoon 😉

Bahahaha.  He wasn’t excited AT all 😉

Overload: Part II

Sunday morning was the same as most, started off with Ab Ripper X

Followed by some elliptical action while watching “The Ugly Truth” OnDemand,

and finally breakfast & a shower.  I don’t know why, but lately I’ve been forgetting to photograph these meals. 

Actually, I’m so rushed that I feel like I don’t have time.  I’m usually mixing a protein shake and running around the house trying to get ready for church.

 It was a nice service that honored the graduates from Christian-Life Assembly, and was all about “defining moments”, character, and compassion.

 Afterward, the boy went home to nap, and I ate a brief lunch, followed by preparations for this week’s lunches:

Spaghetti squash steamed in the microwave and flaked with a fork.

Next, dumped into a portable tupperware container for the work week!  I’ll probably end up eating this with light Ragu & fat free cottage cheese at some point.  Probably my favorite way to consume.

I also made Katie’s Miscellaneous Quinoa Salad

I modified it a tad, according to the ingredients that I had onhand, but for the most part I had everything:

    • 2 cups broccoli, chopped
    • 2 celery stalks, sliced
    • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
    • 1 zucchini (raw), sliced
    • 1 can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
    • 1/8 C. sliced almonds
    • 1 cup quinoa

    • 3 T olive oil
    • 5 T rice vinegar
    • ¼ cup water
    • 1 T Dijon mustard
    • 1.5  tsp. honey
    • 1 sprinkle garlic powder

 ^ for the dressing

I was a busy little bee!  Next, I hit up the grocery store.

 Here are the goods: 8th Continent Light Original Soymilk, Oscar Meyer Cajun Seasoned Chicken Breast lunchmeat, Fiber One Light Multi-Grain bread, Eggland’s Best eggs, La Tortilla Factory Smart & Delicious Low Carb High Fiber small whole wheat wraps, Steamfresh green beans, california blend, and broccoli, Nature’s Promise Organic baby spinach, 3 gala apples, organic tomatoes, no sugar added fudge pops, Sonoma Jack’s light pepperjack cheese wedges, fat-free cottage cheese, Strawberry Oikos, and Pineapple & Lemon Chobani

 Around 4pm, my girl Lyndsie came over for a visit!  She was in Europe for her last semester studying abroad (CHECK OUT HER ADVENTURES THERE, HERE!), and this was the first I had seen her for quite some time!

 The sweet girl that she is, she came bearing gifts 🙂

She brought me back handmade soap in the most adorable laced up bag that was crafted by women in Turkey!

How neat, right? It was so good to see her and catch up on all that we had been missing in one anothers’ lives.  I can’t wait to spend more time with her this summer while she’s home from college!

We hung out on the patio for awhile, and then Jarid came over to play.  Ha.

We got our bathing suits on and got in the pool for a little while, but was quickly scared away by the setting of the sun, aka COLDness.

 Okay, so I was the scared one.  I couldn’t help it!  I was freeeezinggg…you could see goosebumps all over me! 

For a brief time, I had my very own pool boy, though.  Hahaha.  I hope you see this and love it, Jarid 😀

 After the pool, we went for a little walk since it was such a perfect night, and when we returned, we put together some dinner and ate on the deck.

Picture perfect, I’m telling you.  Couldn’t have ended my weekend any better ❤

Isn’t It Supposed To Be Spring?

So, a TON of you ladies have commented on the Salon Effects nail polish!  🙂  Glad you all like it!  I’m not sure exactly how long it will last, but so far we’re still going strong!  I’ll keep you updated!  I found mine at Giant, but they have it at Walmart, Rite Aid, and CVS stores, too!

Is anyone else super disappointed that Puxatony Phil was obviously mistaken about an early Spring?  Because, this 30° weather just isn’t doing it for me.  SO over it.

The workout before church was an Insanity Cardio workout, and burned up 366 calories in just 50 minutes!

Breakfast on Sunday consisted of a huge chunk of banana bread smeared with peanut flour paste mixed with cocoa powder.  No photo, though. 

When I arrived at church for the first time in awhile, since I had missed while in Florida, I was surprised to find that they had already set up for the Easter play!  Check out the crazy intricate scene they’ve got in place!  I’ll be honest…stuff like that bothers me sometimes…going over the top with costly decorations, when they could be helping SO many people with the money they spent on it.

Lunch was quick and easy when I got home from church around 1PM.  I microwaved an egg + 1 egg white and served it on a high fiber, 100 calorie whole wheat english muffin with reduced sugar ketchup.

For veggie power, I had a snack plate of steamed sugar snap peas, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes with forty spices hummus for dipping. 

I decided that in spite of the chill factor, the sun was shining, which meant I needed to be outside. 

Since my workout in the morning was fast-paced, I opted for a leisurely walk.  I planned on hiking up the mountain, but after getting part-way, was forced to turn back because of the wind.

I still managed to get a nice loop of about 5 miles in, though, and although the air was crisp, I couldn’t get enough of the sunshine!

On the way back, I pass my Godparents’ house, and decided to stop and visit a little while, since they had just gotten back from Florida!

It ended up being an excellent decision to stop, because I got to see Bo while I was there, too!  My cousin and her hubs had stopped to visit the Godparents as well.  My bestie and I are godsisters 🙂

Finally, I tore myself away from being a baby hog, and went home.  A bunch of family members were coming over for dinner, so when I got there, Momma was getting the food ready, and a few of us played Scattegories.  LOVE this game…and any word game for that matter.  I wasn’t on my game, though.  I was probably too focused on the apple I knawed on while the timer was ticking away.

I threw together a nice big bowl of salad and microwaved some frozen, pre-cooked chicken breast meat.  My balsamic glazes are dwindling down, and all I’m left with is the plain.  I’m totally ordering more…no doubt.

I had a nice little Skype date, yet again 🙂

Surrender Sin.

Is anyone else completely dumbfounded by the fact that God can totally and completely change our hearts if we surrender it all to Him? Just another amazing way that He proves his love to us. Sure, it feels like we’re losing control…because we are.  Giving everything over to Him means that we fully understand that we AREN’T in control.  Why would we want to be when HE knows what’s best for us, after all?

I had a new bar for breakfast on Sunday!

They’re called Solo Bars and they are delicious.  As you long-time readers are well aware, I don’t care for much that is lemon flavored, but this sweet, yogurt-covered bar was an exception.

The company sent me a few flavors to try out, and I’ll be elaborating more when I do the official review, but for now, let’s just say they’re fabulous.  They’ve got a very low glycemic index, which is awesome for an energy bar, because it means you won’t have to deal with blood sugar spikes!

For my workout today, I did the typical 15 minute Insane Abs video, some biking and then ellipticalling.  “Secret Millionaire” kept me entertained for a little while, but I got bored kind quickly, since I do the same routine just about everyday.  I really wanted to focus on my core, so I seeked out an old fave…Windsor Pilates

I only burned about 400 calories, but I forgot to capture the HR monitor screen on my camera.  Afterward, I just wanted something cold and refreshing with a little bit of protein for my muscles!

Greeeen monster to the rescuee.  Hugee handful of baby spinach, 3 ice cubes, 3/4 C. unsweetened vanilla almond breeze, Splenda, 1/4 C. canned pumpkin, and 1/8 C. peanut flour.  JUST like a peanut butter milkshake, I’m telling you.

I got a shower, did some school work, and hung out.  Before I knew it, lunchtime rolled around.

No, that’s not spaghetti…it’s Shiritaki Noodles 🙂  And I piled on the steamed broccoli, canned mushrooms, and light ragu mixed with garlic lovers’ hummus to make a lunch bowl fit for a queen.

We had a birthday party to get to in Lancaster, and on the car ride there, I snacked on a Coconut Cream Pie Larabar…my FAVE!  Around 5, Momma FF, the sister, and I met some of our favorite ladies at Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner!  We were all headed to an Amy Grant/Michael W. Smith concert at 7!

Incase you’re a newbie, Ruby Tuesday’s is one of the only chain restaurants that I actually enjoy, because they’ve got such a ridiculous salad bar.  Sometimes I even imitate their salads at home!

Baby spinach & mixed greens for a base, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, zucchini, peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, cottage cheese, chickpeas, grapes, and balsamic vinegar

When we left, I had a happy belly.  The only thing that could have made it better was the next stop on our itinerary! Can you guess?!

If you said Starbucks, you would be correct 😉  I got a tall coffee with sugar-free vanilla & sugar-free caramel flavor shots.  Just like at home!

Randa got a caramel frapp & bek got a mocha latte. It’s funny how different all of our tastes are. 

The weather was nothing but rain, so we got to the venue looking like drowned rats, but didn’t care.  It was a blast to be there all together!

For any of you readers who have had the privilege of seeing a show at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, you know that it is beautiful inside!

This picture doesn’t even come close to doing that chandelier justice!  It was exquisite!

Our seats were pretty high up, but there isn’t a bad seat in the house!  Unfortunately, my stupid battery eating droid died before the music started, or I planned on doing my first VLOG :-/

The two together were awe-inspiring.  I didn’t even know many of the songs they played, being that a lot of it was from their older albums, but it was enjoyable, none-the-less.

When it was over, after ten, we left and hit a HUGE blizzard in Harrisburg.  Cars in ditches, accidents all over the place, and a car full of scared-to-death girls trying to soothe themselves by singing to the CDs we bought at the concert.  God brought us home safe and sound.  He is always faithful!

Weekend Perks.

Although I was a little disappointed that our game was cancelled for Saturday, since the other team didn’t have enough players, I soothed my sorrows with a breakfast that I’d been wanting to try since I saw it on Caitlin’s blog forever ago…that’s right, a grilled banana sandwich

(2 slices 12 grain pepperidge farm bread, 1/2 c. egg whites mixed with vanilla extract + cinnamon, 1 banana sliced, and some fat-free ricotta cheese + sugar free syrup ontop)

Sure, mine wasn’t as pretty as hers was, but it was completely delicious.  It kinda made up for the fact that I didn’t have a game to look forward to that day 🙂

Super filling, too!  I had speech communications class from 9AM to 11:50 and then practice from 12 until 2, so I packed a lunch to eat in transition.

(2 slices pepperidge farm whole grain bread, 1 with fat free strawberry cream cheese & one with Oscar Meyer chicken lunchmeat + forty spices hummus & baby spinach)

Plus, some icy pineapple.

Practice went pretty well, but there are a few girls who just started playing with us, so we had to go over allll of the play with them.  Since we already knew them, it got a bit tedious, but at least we got to play.

When I got home, I these busy bees were getting to work in the kitchen because we were having some friends over for a dinner party around 5.

On the menu was faux chicken parmesan, salad, steamed broccoli, and garlic crab stuffed mushrooms + crab dip for appetizers.

I was on shroom duty.  Mainly because I offered up my culinary skills (or Janetha’s, actually) and volunteered to make the recipe I saw on J’s page when she received the Chobani mitt!

Except, I had this secret ingredient from MarDona –> SWEET & HOT GARLIC CLOVES!  They sent me a whole bunch of goodies to try out and were super generous…another of which you’ll hear about later in the post…Phenomonal, I’m telling you. 

They turned out wonderfully and were a hit! 

Here’s my plate!  Roasted chicken breast with light ragu, steamed broccoli and a salad with 2 garlic crab stuffed mushrooms.

It was a fun Saturday night that ended with a viewing of “The Dark Knight“, which is in my opinion an awesome movie!

 The next morning,  I worked out before church.  Insane abs, biking, and the elliptical were my choices.  While I used the elliptical, I watched Extreme Makeover Home Edition on hulu.com.  Paula Deen was the celebrity volunteer for this episode and she cracked me up the entire time.  Food knowledge does not equal construction knowledge.

(1/3 C. oats, calorie free walden farms chocolate syrup, 1 egg white; icing = greek yogurt + sugar free vanilla syrup)

I made an oatcake for fueling, but this time before I mixed everything together, I blended the oats first.  It was much more cakelike this way!  I think it will continue to be the method I choose.  I had some frozen pineapple, too.

I jumped in the shower, got ready for church, and whipped up a pumpkiny green monster to sip on while I was rushing around doing my makeup and hair.

(3/4 C. unsweet vanilla almond breeze, 1/2 C. canned pumpkin, 3 ice cubes, handful spinach, 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein + cinnamon)

YUM.  Refreshing and smooth.  It was the perfect addition to my oatcake for breakfast after a cardio workout.  Church this week was really cool.  As you may remember, Christian Life is doing a series on Living Well, and this week the message was all about physical health.

They’ve got a whole page dedicated to healthy recipes and lots of great sources for those that aren’t quite as educated in nutrition and wellness as they could be.

Church was finished around 12:30 and by the time I got to my car, I was glad that I had something packed!  I knew I would be running errands, so I threw together some leftovers from dinner the night before.

(A bed of greens (lettuce & spinach), carrots, tomato, cukes, broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, and 1 chicken breast with a slice of 10 grain pepperidge farm bread with 1 tbsp. fat free strawberry cream cheese & some pineapple)

I couldn’t finish this all at once, but I knocked out the huge salad first.

You’re probably wondering what the mouth-watering glaze is that the entire salad was topped with…the truth is, a dressing MAKES a salad, but they get a bad reputation for having lots of calories and fat.  MarDona, as I said sent me some things from their product line to try out, including this amazing Cherry Balsamic Glaze.

oh.my.heavens.

 I had a hard time believing that this stuff was only 10 calories per serving.   SO flavorful and the perfect compliment to my veggies and chicken. 

 I got a few things at Target like notebooks to start my Spring semester, some NewTree Chocolate, and two cute shirts.

We had a STEELERS football party to go to Sunday night, so just had another green monster before we left.  My Dad actually was AT the game!

I love when the weekend starts with a successful trip to the farmer’s market.

I got alllll of this for just under $18. 

-2 kiwi
-bunch of bananas
-broccoli
-zucchini
-yellow squash
-starfruit
-butternut squash
-2 red bell peppers
-2 yellow peppers
-a tomato threesome
-2 HUGE pears

Not to mention, it was all in support of local farmers! 

After an hour & 1/2 at basketball practice, I utilized the goods to cook up a fabulous dinner.

Roasted goodies with some light ragu on the side for dippin’.

And some cinnamonny 100 cal kettle corn.

I chilled out the rest of the night and did my best to get a good night’s sleep.  In the morning, I had a very big day!  It was my first college basketball game since 2006!

 I knew I wanted to have a hearty breakfast, so I whipped up a batch of Janetha’s protein pancakes!

 Super simple!  Just blend together:

  • 1/2 C. old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 C. fat free cottage cheese
  • cinnamon
  • 3 egg whites
  • pinch baking soda
  • sweetener of choice (I used Splenda)

Spray a non-stick skillet with some Pam and voila!

Except, hopefully you’re better at flipping them than I am.  I think I tried to flip too soon.  Regardless, they were still delicious.  And still a little doughy in the middle which was a total score in my book 😉

I added some sugar free maple syrup to mine!  And then I got my game face on while sipping a huge mug of coffee and watching the snowfall.

I was as excited as I was nervous!  The game was to be held at the Philadelphia University gym, which meant we had to leave at about 11 to make it there in time to warm up.

I packed up all my game stuff and then got to work on some lunch & dinner for the bus trip.

Lunch would be 1/3 C. quinoa, 1 baby sweet tater, 1/4 C. black beans, and some baby spinach.

I also packed a juicy sliced pear sprinkled with cinnamon.

The team usually stops for fast food on the way home, but I obviously am not a fan, so I made sure I had stuff that I wanted to eat afterward for dinner.

V8 Butternut Squash soup, cocoa roasted almonds, strawberry Chobani, and two cuties.

We watched “The Blind Side” on the way to the game for some inspiration 😉

The gym was absolutely gorgeous and I was practically drooling when I saw their fitness center.

Mannnnn.  It was stacked

 Our game didn’t go quite the way we were hoping.  We all played hard and did well, but it wasn’t quite enough to win.  It was a super close game the entire way, and I ended up with four fouls.  I played almost the whole game.  All but 4ish minutes, in fact.  When it was over, I felt like I could go for another half.

After the game, our punishment for losing was to stand out in the freezing cold while the bus heated up.  Haha.  Juuuust kidding 🙂

As I said, we stopped at McDonald’s on the way home and I got some apple slices and a water to accompany my packed foods.  The girls were cracking up when I whipped out my purple lunch box 😀

As a consolation prize for a good effort at our game, I made myself a chocolate cherry bomb oatcake.

  • 1/3 C. old fashioned oats
  • 1.5 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 1/2 c. frozen sliced cherries
  • sugar free torani syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 pinch baking powder

Then, my girl, Lyndsie who is home from college right now, went to check out my lil’ seester’s indoor soccer game.  We chatted most of the time about how creeped out we were by the old referee who kept flirting with us.

Oh yeah, andd the fact that she’s studying abroad over in Denmark this Spring!  I’ve got big plans already to visit her there!!  Any readers from Denmark out there?! 🙂

 Sunday morning, my body hated me.  My body was achy and sore from being shoved around at the game…still, I got up and did insane abs, biking, and a quick 2.5 mile run before church.

3/4 C. unsweet vanilla almond breeze, 1/2 banana, some frozen pineapple chunks, unsweetened coconut flakes, 3 ice cubes, and 1 scant scoop vanilla whey protein powder

I had a boring unpictured breakfast beforehand (just some toast with fat free strawberry cream cheese) and then a pina colada protein shake  on the way to church.

As I mentioned last week, CLA is doing a new series called “Live Well“.  This week, the sermon was all about relationships.  It was about the fact that next to our relationship with God, our relationship with people is what matters most in this life

  I arrived home to my treasures (Momma, Poppa, and seester FF), and told each one of them how much I loved them.  It’s so important.  You never know when it might be the last chance you get to say it!

Sweet as they are, they picked me up some lunch.

They know just what I like.  Steamed shrimp and mixed vegetables with lite garlic sauce.  I think I actually eat this about once a week…if not more.  Haha.  What can I say?! There aren’t many options in my area when I don’t feel like cooking!  It’s either that or Subway!

The rest of the weekend was unpictured, but I went to see Tangled with a friend and my middle sister!  It was super cute and I was impressed, since I had been disappointed by the recent Disney makings.  This was an exceptional one, though.

Eventually, I had some Shiritaki noodles with light ragu and a light parmesan peppercorn sonoma jack’s cheese wedge for dinner along with zucchini chips.  I’m not quite sure I remember what was next, other than a strawberry chobani dessert induced coma.  I bet I got about 10 hours of sleep last night.  Gloriiiiiiious.

Christmas Time’s A Comin’!

I woke up Sunday morning with a craving for ALMOND JOY flavors at breakfast time.  You know, the classic chocolate & coconut together? 

Well, I did one better and had a Triple Chocolate Chunk Vitatop spread with some melted coconut butter.  I didn’t “cook” my vitatop, so it was still frosted and when the warm coconut butter touched it, it began to harden like those “magic shells” that you used to put ontop of ice cream! 

I’m beginning to wonder how I ever went without Coconut Butter in my life until this point.  Artisana saved me and sent me some to try!  I’m completely in love.  It’s one of the healthiest fats you can eat, you know!  Please try some.  I promise you, you will not regret it.  BEST $11 you’ll spend on a specialty grocery EVER.

I juiced through a nice little workout on Sunday morning after my dessert-like breakfast, started off with Insane Abs, followed by some biking, and finished off with some elliptical action.  I watched half of “My Sister’s Keeper” on my laptop to stay entertained.  Holy tear-jerker. 500 calories later, I had a protein shake.

Vega kindly sent me two of their Shake & Go flavors to try out…The Vanilla Almondilla was first to try.  Each packet has got:

  • Two servings of veggies
  • 2500 mg Omega-3-6-9
  • 11 g complete protein
  • Only 100 calories
  • 1 billion probiotics cultures

SWEET.  It tasted delicious, too.  Just like a vanilla milkshake.  Rich, creamy and not artificial tasting.

A little while later, after showering, getting ready, and dressing warm, the family and I headed out to pick out the perfect Christmas tree!

We picked up Subway on the way to the tree farm for lunch.  I got a six inch turkey breast on wheat with lettuce, tomato, onion, green pepper, sweet peppers, and mustard sprinkled with oregano.  It was so-so…nothing great, but it did the job.

 Each year we go to the same place for our tree.  It’s tradition!  They have a huge selection and we love that my poor Dad no longer has to chop it down himself!  Picking out the tree is always a family affair.  We have to all agree on one…although, after being out in the freezing cold field for a little while, compromise doesn’t seem so bad 😉

This is only one side to the farm!  It’s on a hill, too so it’s extra chilly up there.  The wind just cuts right through you! We were all decked out in scarves, gloves, and hats.

How adorable are my little sisters?  I may be a little biased, but I think they’re some of the most beautiful girls in the world 🙂  Must take after Momma FF. 

See what I mean?  Gorgeous.  Not to mention, the most caring woman I know.  She’s always on my side and understands me like no one else in the world.  Anyway…enough of the mushy stuff.  Back to the tree pickin’! 😀

As you can see, we thought this little pony was about the cutest thing ever.  After we found “THE ONE” we checked out the gift shop on the property where the girls had hot chocolate and free cookies.

There were all kinds of trinkets and handmade goodies in the shop that we gandered at while the man with the John Deere cut down our tree for us.  Homemade candles, scarves, and Christmas decorations.

They’ve got a really nice system.  We barely had to do any work.  You just tag your tree with a ribbon and they do the rest!  They even wrap it all up for you!  The only thing Poppa FF had to do was pay and carry the tree back to the car.

This is about the time that it REALLY hits me how close to Christmas we really are.  TWO and a HALF weeks!  Good thing my shopping is almost finished!

Of course, you know what comes next…the DECORATING.  Complete with Christmas tunes courtesy of music channels from OnDemand.  Every year Dad video tapes it.  We’ve got everyone on video from the time I was little.  I wonder if we’ll ever watch them!

Each year my Nanna & TT (the Godparents) give each of the kids a new ornament for the tree.  I’ve gotten several precious ones over the years that I couldn’t imagine ever giving up.  It’s neat to see how the collection grows!

This one has to be one of my all-time favorites.  Totally unique, right? 🙂  This year’s was really special, too. 

It reads, “Connected by love, guided by faith“.

Dinner later involved raw tofu (I’m with you, GC!).  Don’t ask me why, but I absolutely love it.  I buy the “lite firm” from Nasoya which only has about 160 calories per block so I don’t feel guilty eating the whole thing 😀

Carrots, cukes, greens, peppers, snap peas, and anything else I could find in the kitchen.  I love a hearty plate of veggies.  I used some Tribe Forty Spices Hummus + mustard for dressing post photo. 

A little while later, I got snacky while I was relaxing and watching some Sunday night football with the rents, so I had a few handful’s of Hillary’s granola & a square of the dark chocolate she sent me for dessert 🙂

And with that, I went into a coma for the rest of the night.

Weekend Recap II

Sunday, funday festivities

Pre-workout Breakfast: 1/2 chopped apple + 1/2 C. chopped butternut squash tossed in sugar free syrup + cinnamon & microwaved until tender

Post workout breakfast: frozen strawberry Chobani with calorie free chocolate syrup

Shower was taken and church was enjoyed from the comfort of my own home due to some last minute schedule changes.

CLA podcasts rock my socks off.  It worked out for the best because I had another family reunion at 1PM.

I packed an egg and cheese sammie to take along because I know reunion options are limited on the healthy side.

 I didn’t want to look like a freak or like I was missing out so I hit the buffet line for this lil’ plate of freshness.

The bean salad was incredible.  Pretty sure there was copious amounts of olive oil and possible sugar in it, but I figured a taste wouldn’t hurt.  Plus, my favorite, white celery and REAL carrot sticks (not baby!).

The family enjoys things like pot pie, fried chicken, mashed potatoes, meatballs, macaroni and cheese, pepper filling, baked beans, and baked ham.  To be honest, foods like that just don’t appeal to me anymore…gimme some kale, hummus, and naan and I’d be a happy camper.

I played bingo and won absolutely nothing 🙂  Still fun, none-the-less.

There were lots of other winners though!  Some won paper towels, others won lottery tickets.  Ha.

Soon it was dwindling down and I walked home.

After all, it was only down the street from my house!  And it was an absolutely beautiful day.

When I got home, I studied and snacked for awhile.

Until finally my brain was fried and filled to the brim, so I went to therapy, aka the kitchen to bring together a real dinner.

With a bowl of raw kale greens topped with COLD V8 Butternut Squash soup.  Yes, I enjoy cold soup.  It was extra chunky and delicious that way.  I diced up some green pepper and threw in some tomatoes for garnish.

The rest of the night, I watched, talked to the boyfriend (who’s coming home next weekend!!) and watched football with the fam.  Don’tcha love having some time to regroup before the work week starts back up again?  I know I do!

Adventures Of My Weekend Part III + Giveaway Winner!

Soooo you’re catching up on your blog reading and wondering when the heck I’m going to announce the winner of the AWESOME Easy Lunch Box giveaway, right?!? Sunday morning started out on the right foot with my go-to breakfast of an SOC (smoothie over cereal)

in one of my fave Zak Designs bowls.

 Completely satisfying.  After breakfast, it was time ot leave for church with my family.  The sermon was really good, actually.  We broke down the verse in the comandment in the Bible not to use the Lord’s name in vain.  Our pastor brought it to our attention that the verse not only is refering to our speech, but also our lifestyles.  If we call ourselves Christians, we are to set an example of how Christ wants us to act for others.  We should practice what we preach, because if we don’t, we bring shame to His name.  

After church, around 12PM, I snacked on another light string cheese & an apple before the main course!  We were having yet another family gathering at our house for THIS cutie’s birthday:

 When everyone got there and we settled in, prayed, and socialized a bit, it was time to dig into lunch!  Menu for them?  Mashed potatoes, roast beef, corn, and stuffing.  Menu for me?  Salad, hard boiled eggs, & a light flat out spread with SF apricot preserves

The rest of the day, I basically grazed and snacked the rest of the day.  While the family enjoyed the cake & ice cream, I snacked on watermelon

Later on I also had some SF Strawberry Jello.  An entire bowl, actually 😉

We had blast outside and thoroughly enjoyed the BEAUTIFUL weather.  It was a bit breezy, but sunshiney and bright! I was on a mission to get a tan 😉

Later in the night, I had some of my SF vanilla ice cream & another salad like the one pictured above!  Handfuls of veggies from this array were eaten throughout the day, too.  Sans dip, of course.

After a long day, most of the family left, we cleaned up, and I packed my lunch for Monday.

Then, my bestie, who recently found out she is PREGO, called me for a maternity clothing fashion show at her house 🙂  There were a bunch of yard-sale items that her Mom wanted her to go through.  We had a blast weeding out all the “NO-way’s” and the “ICk!’s” and finding some “hidden treasures” that she would soon be able to wear with her growing belly!  It was a perfect way to end my night.  Lots of laughs were had.  I really miss times like that with her!

The dance was awesome, actually.  The first 2 hours, there was a live jazz band that played swing music and we were actually able to learn some dance moves!  I had it down pat by the end of the night! 🙂  The second half of the dance, they played music up through each decade, which was also really neat.  We loved the old school, “Eye of the Tiger”, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”, and “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”, but got even more excited when teenie bopper songs from back in the day came on from the Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, and N’Sync!  Haha.  It was a blast.  Eventually, they were playing current day music too, but that was probably the LEAST fun! 😛

Seester FF and I were exhausted, but I had a blast spending the night at school with her.  I even got to stay with her in the dorm since her roommate was away!  Thanks for sharing your bed with me, Sarah

ohhh, the joys of college life.

 We got up around 9:30 AM to start getting ready for church.  Our friend, Hainey was coming to pick us up at 10:30 for the 11AM service.  She calls herself our surrogate mom.  Momma Hainey is awesome.  She’s been there to support all three of us girls in sporting events over the years and we met her through our Mom, since they had been co-workers for years. 

 After getting ready, I made my breakfast around 10AM.  I had my greek yogurt + Fiber Select that was packed up in my cooler.  I knew I wanted some additional flavor in the yogurt, so I nosed around the dorm until I found something I could use in the tea stash that the sister kept.  I was thinking key lime pie sounded like a yummy breakfast, no?

It held me a good four hours until after church & until we made it home!  Momma & sister FF had a bridal shower to go to at 2PM, so when I arrived, I made some lunch

1 can french cut green beans + ff hot dog sandwich with reduced sugar ketchup & mustard on a light whole grain english muffin.

These Hebrew National hot dogs amaze me.  SO good, and only 40 calories each!

There’s something about plain canned green beans that I just crave sometimes?  Maybe it’s all the sodium…haha.  1 can=65 calories.

After lunch, I brewed another pot of coffee for icing refrigerating.

I was excited to find that the necklace that my parents gave me for my 21st birthday (back in August) was finally finished and back from being engraved!  Apparently there were a few issues about it being so tiny.

I got some housekeeping stuff done, uploaded my photos, & relaxed for awhile.  I tried to get my prescription refilled since I was out, but apparently I’m due back for another testing before they’ll write me a new one!  Which ultimately means….moreeeee bloodwork 😦 Ugh.  I hateeeeee needles.

When the rest of the family got home, we watched “Remember Me” (or part of it) on my laptop, but everyone kind of dispursed in the middle.  Momma FF stopped at McDonald’s on the way home, so the family had that for dinner, while I cooked up a box of my Fiber Gourmet to be included in dinner.

Along with one of these containers for dinner, I drank a green monsta.

I had a handful of almonds & pitted dates for dessert that went unpictured, too.

You better believe that I was in bed by 8PM.  Haha, any denture soaking tips, Whit? I felt like a grandma, too!  I don’t know how the college kids keep up with that kind of lifestyle on a daily basis!  I’d be DEAD!
