So Much To Say, So Little Time.

Posted on

Sorry for the hiatus, ya’ll.  I’ve missed you while I was gone…You see, ther’s a lot going on in my life right now so, I’ve decided this post is going to be the most minimal amount of words possible.  I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking…EXCEPT for the fact that I’m ALSO announcing the CHOBANI GIVEAWAY winner at the end of the post! 🙂  That, my friends, requires some verbage.

This game was pretty sweet.  Our team scored 113 points vs. the other team’s 31! I’m #2, incase you forgot.

Then, on Saturday night, my lil cousin, Bryden was going to be skating on the ice at the Hershey Bears’ Hockey Game, so we all went out in support.

The Bears ended up losing in penalty shots after overtime, but it was definitely an exciting game!

Everyone got chicken fingers and french fries at the game, but not me!

I took advantage of the toppings bar and piled a turkey salad high with roasted red peppers, banana peppers, and some salsa!

Not bad for game food, in fact, I was pretty impressed!

Sunday morning came early and I got in a quickie workout before going to church with Bran.

There was a cool singing group at the church today which we really enjoyed.

That night, I had plans with my friend Joel to go to his men’s league basketball game…but not before I roasted some gorgeous veggies for dinner.

Parsnips are seriously one of my favorite vegetables.  I can’t believe it took me so long to try them!

And roasted mushrooms?!  There is nothing in the world like them.  Holy cow.

Soon it was time to leave for the game!  It was in E-town, so Joel picked me up.

The team played pretty great, but they didn’t manage to pull off a win.

Again, it went into overtime!  I’m telling you, this weekend was full of exciting sporting events.

Monday morning, I volunteered at a kids’ basketball clinic for inner city kids in the Harrisburg area at HACC in honor of Martin Luther King Day with some of the other girls on the team since we had off work.

It was from 9AM-12PM, so technically, I even got to sleep in, compared to a day I’d be waking up for work!

When it was over, I headed home to study and whip up some lunch.

Truth be told, I just threw a bunch of chopped veggies (onion, squash, red pepper, broccoli) into a ramekin,  and poured some Dr. McDougall’s lentil soup overtop.

Later on, I went to my aunt’s to visit this little bundle of preciousness 🙂  I can’t believe he’s already up over 7lbs!!

Monday, I had off of work as well, since the parking situation downtown is terrible and the Governor’s inauguration was scheduled.

The little seester had off of school, due to the snow, so I whipped up a batch of Janetha’s protein pancakes for my dad, my sister and I to have breakfast together.

It was really nice to be able to sit and eat a leisurely breakfast with my family.

The only thing that would’ve made it better is if my Momma would’ve had off work too and could’ve joined us!

Annnnnd maybe if these could’ve magically disappeared 🙂

All in all, I had a wonderful weekend, but it’s good to be back in the groove of things…you know…in the blog world again.

So here’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the winner!  Thank you all for entering and being such wonderful followers of the blog.  I wish I could give you each a package!  Emily, however was kind enough to let me choose TWO winners.  So here they are, chosen randomly, of course:

CONGRATS, LADIES!  Make sure to send me an email: with the mailing address that you’d like your Chobani to be sent!

Dads & Grads.

I think I speak for our whole family when I say, we are SO glad my Dad is back from the missions trip.  Sure we still argue and feud a little bit, but there is nothing like spending time together as a WHOLE family.  Adventures while he was gone just weren’t the same.

Dads & Grads are always celebrated this time of year because of Father’s Day & the end of the school year or semester, but here’s a little something extra sweet in honor of these peeps 🙂  Starting today, through Father’s Day (June 20th), Garlic Gold 4 pack sampler, my favorite seasoning product is available in MyShoP for 10% OFF with coupon code PickMeFoodie at checkout.  With grilling season officially in session, they’re a necessity in your pantry!  In addition to the special 10% OFF, you’ll get a FREE BATCH OF MY indoor s’mores + 2 of my favorite Garlic Gold recipes included in your order!  GET YOURS NOW!

Now, let’s rewind to the weekend.

Friday night we had tickets

to another Harrisburg Senators Baseball game

My cousins, along with the rest of our Elementary Chorus were singing the national anthem before the game!

I know options are limited at a ball park, so I packed my own dinner to bring to the game.

Light flat out with light pepperjack Cabott cheese + 1/2 apple, veggie tray with celery, cherry tomato, baby carrots, snap peas, & cucumber + other 1/2 of apple.  Packing saves money too!

The game was delayed a bit because of the rain showers, which resulted in a beautiful rainbow.

But before we knew it, it was time to play ball. It was a nice family night but we ended up leaving a little early because it started storming again.

Saturday morning started off with this yummy bar before my trip to the gym.

Nature’s Path kindly sent me some new bars to try out after loving the Chococonut & Sunny Hemp ones last time!

It was a typical day for a typical workout.  I did, however break up the time on the elliptical again, which made time fly by.

After completed, I stopped at Walmart to return something, where I found THIS gem!  I’m super impressed with the selection in the Walmart grocery section.

On the way home from there, I dropped off some old clothing at a donation center.  It was a cleaning day in my household, so I helped out a little when I got home in that department as well.

Around 12PM, I made some lunch!

After watching the fam chow down on some hot dogs at the ball game, I was hungry for them!  Hebrew National 97% fat free, of course 🙂  I steamed some broccoli slaw in the microwave, poured on 1/2C. Light Ragu & toppd it off with a dollop of Greek yogurt.

I was in the mood for lunch dessert, so I decided on some fresh melon.

Filled with Oikos & sprinkled with cinnamon–well, because it’s good on EVERYthing.

We had two grad parties to attend Saturday & I packed some food to eat on the way to the 2nd for dinner.  I didn’t pack anything OVERLY filling because I figured there would be munchies at the parties.

Light flat out filled with 2 Hebrew National 97% FF hot dogs, reduced sugar ketchup, & 1 slice of low fat cheese + 1 braeburn apple + veggie bag.

From about 3-5 PM we were at the first one for my cousin Mitch!  I didn’t get any good shots of the guy, but HE is the HOT DOG KING.  When he was 7, at our house, he ate an entire package of hot dogs.

Before we knew it, we needed to leave for the 2nd one!  I ate my dinner on the way, and we arrived a little later than expected due to lack of directions, but we made it, nonetheless!

This party had a great DJ!  It was fun to catch up with people you don’t get to see very often.  The girl we were there in celebration of actually played travel softball with my middle sister, so we don’t see the folks on a regular basis.I munched on some fresh watermelon & cantaloupe and sipped on some coffee with Splenda toward the end of the night.

Sunday morning we went to church as a family for the first time in three weeks!  It was a beautiful thing.  Beforehand, I made good use of my Naturally More & had an awesome, yet simple breakfast.

Peanut butter toast + Peanut butter banana protein shake (courtesy of Optimum Nutrition

Can you believe I’m almost OUT of my casein protein!?  I can’t wait to get more.

The sermon was about the gift of sex that God gave us; How sacred it is, how it is abused, etc…all the in’s & out’s.  No pun intended 🙂  Anyway, here are the basics:

  • God created sex to be between a man & a woman.  This, the dynamics of a light bulb & socket.  The idea of “Adam & Eve”, not “Adam & Steve”.
  • God created sex to be between a HUSBAND & WIFE.  Sex outside of marriage is NOT an “okay” thing.  A wife’s body is also her husband’s and a husband’s body is also his wife’s.
  • Sex is not a “dirty” thing.  It’s meant to be enjoyed and should not be withheld from one another in a marriage.

After the sermon, we ordered some Chinese food to enjoy at home on the gorgeous Sunday afternoon.

I got the usual; Steamed shrimp & chinese vegetables.  I absolutely was craving this!  I made my own sauce for the dish from SF syrup & reduced sodium soy sauce to drizzle ontop!

I always read my fortune even though I throw the cookie away.  Hope that’s not bad luck! Haha. Who am I kidding…I don’t believe in luck 😉

After lunch, Momma FF, Daddy FF, & I took a trip to Costco!  Kabobs were on the menu for dinner & we wanted some gooood fresh produce.  Plus, I had been dying to go there after reading about all the fab finds the JB & Danica always talk about!

Lite Turkey Breast, Light Whole Grain Roll Ups, Mini Peppers, Cukes, & Vitatops!  I also found the NORMANDY veggies (already packed into the freezer).

I helped Mom & Pops start on the veggie slicing & dicing along with the meat marinading.  Somewhere during this time, I munched on a gala apple & a vitatop, but there is no photo proof.

Peppers, tomatoes, pineapple, red onion, squash, & shroomies!

Pops was the master griller, & Momma & I were the preppers.

Dad being a cheeseball 😉

While the meat was marinating, I biked & then played with Cali baby for awhile.  The girls were being bums and watching TV ALLL day.  I cannot stay still that long!

I made my kabobs out of chicken & veggies, but they marinaded some beef as well!  They also used some sugary sauce on theirs which I opted out of and kept mine seperate.

I made my own marinade out of the same thing I drizzled my Chinese with earlier!

Being that is was so perfect outside, we ate on the deck allll together.  It was seriously picture perfect.  Kodak moment if I ever saw one.  We laughed together & post dinner we played a competitive game of backyard volleyball!

It was us three girls vs. Momma, Pops, & JD!  They schooled us the first two games, but we took them down on the third 😉

That night we settled down to watch the Flyers game & relax together.  The family had cheesecake for dessert, but I had peanut butter on the brain so I whipped up some Naturally More + banana softserve.

What were the highlights of your weekend?

Any products missing from your life that you’ve recently been reintroduced to?

Weekender Recap I

Friday night was a mish mosh of excitement in my family.  Traditionally, we paint 12 dozen Easter eggs for hiding on easter about a week ahead of time.  I was ready to get my paint on!  The festivities didn’t start until about 5:30PM, so I went for a quick 5 mile walk/run as soon as I arrived home.

sticky buns.

When I got back, my house was full of people and they were ready to eat!  There was barbeque sloppy joes, taco dip, sticky buns, and all kinds of other bad stuff 😉  People come from near & far for my Momma’s sticky buns!

taco dip.

I had NONE of these things.  Instead, I took advantage of this bowl of cracked eggs that could not be painted!

Broken eggs!

I ate a bunch of whites filled with pineapple salsa!  I also helped myself to the baby carrots that were placed on the food table in the kitchen.  I steamed a bag of veggies to eat too!  Cauliflower to be exact.

Then it was time for painting!

Momma Freckled Foodie.

The kids were having a blast!

Cousin, Colton.

I have a total of 17 cousins, just on my Mom’s side of the family!

Cousin, Jadyn.

All of which were covered in dye at the end!

Sister, Morgan.

Tori & Peyton (birthday boy!), Cousins.

They were all tons of fun to watch…so creative, too!

Cousin, Paige & Uncle Dave.

Father, daughter love 🙂

How cute is this little guy? It's my cousin, Trey.

Don’t even THINK that I would miss out on all the fun! 🙂

The Official Freckled Foodie Egg!

I definitely painted my share!

Sami Egg 🙂

Which one is YOUR favorite?

Purple swirls

Sami Egg #2

After all the eggs were painted, we sang Happy Birthday to my cousin, Peyton!

Happy Birthday, Peyton!

The rest of the night was enjoyed together as family 🙂 For my dessert, instead of cake, I made a greek yogurt mess with plain yogurt, apple cinnamon instant oatmeal (raw), and a drizzle of SF syrup! YUMMMMM.

I arrived home Friday night after work to an empty house.  My Dad left for a coaching clinic in Kutztown and my Mom & sister were at softball practice.  I decided to get the biking out of the way for the night and hopped on after getting changed.  I biked for about 2 hours while watching random online episodes of “Friends“.  For some reason, that never gets old 🙂  After showering up, my Mom took my sister to a party and she and I went to get Chinese food.

The usual 🙂

There is something about this dish that I can’t seem to venture away from.  I bet it would be good with chicken too, but I was craving shrimp! 🙂   The steamed veggies included broccoli, bok choy, carrots, baby corn, and green pepperI love the sauce they give you to use with it too.  Oil/cornstarch free!  It’s basically water, soy sauce, chili powder, and scallions with a touch of garlic.  YUM.  I have recreated this at home 🙂

We wanted to go see a movie but hadn’t done research on the showtimes, so we figured we’d just see whatever was playing to the closest time when we got to the theatre.  Unfortunately, we just missed all the starts for showtimes and would have to wait around for another hour or so to see ANYTHING.  We just went home and chilled out instead.  I may or may not have eaten a spoonful or two of this kryptonite peanut butter before bed.

Mmmm Vanilla Cranberry...

I woke up kind of disappointed Saturday morning.  The wind was insaneeee, and Saturday mornings were the only real time I had to go running outside.  Flustered about the weather, I turned to a comfort food before our 7:15AM yoga class.

Yes, I cheated.  This is the result of an instant oatmeal packet.  Giant brand, no less.  But it was mighty tasty.  Cinnamon apple style.  The mix consisted of 1 packet oats + 1 spoonful dark chocolate peanut butter + 1 drizzle sugar free honey + a splash of unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze. Sorry for the blurry picture.  I got excited and was too impatient to score a perfect one.

Yoga was alright, nothing too strenuous.  Don’t worry, I made up for it afterward with a 6 mile run.  Here is me when I returned home:

A little damp..

Not only was it windy, but the drizzly rain was WHIPPING me in the face.  Oh well, I felt good to have gotten to go at all!  No more complaining 🙂

I decided on a protein shake to refuel.  After all, Saturdays were my ALL OR NOTHING workouts.

I ❤ you, Bella.

Sooooo, I whipped up a little BSN Banana Nut Protein dessert with some more unsweetened chocolate Almond Breeze.

Can you say chocolate covered banana milkshake???

After biking for awhile, I decided to try out the P90X cardio DVD.  I haven’t done this one yet, I usually stick to the AB RipperX, which I also did later Saturday.

I breaked for lunch somewhere in the mix of all the working out for a bagel thin with Raspberry infused peanut butter spread, a baby apple, and some raw veggies.  The only thing I managed to remember to photograph was the apple.  SORRY!

So cute!

I had a date Saturday night, so it was a little bit of a blurr the rest of the day.  I have no idea what I ate for dinner?  No documentation was to be found on my camera.  I can guarantee you I did eat, I just don’t remember what or when?  Haha.  All that exercise must’ve made me delirious.

We met at the mall and hung out there for a little while, then we headed to a nearby theatre and saw “The Crazies“.

It was sooo unbelievably creepy.  I seriously could NOT sleep when I got home.

Did you all remember to “spring ahead”!?  I did! I even got up an EXTRA hour before church so I could get some biking & ab work in, leaving the rest of the day to relax.  For breakfast, I had some Banana Bread Nut cereal cookie.

I have a feeling lots of people forgot about the time change because there were slim pickin’ s at church in the morning!  After church, I had choir practice until about 12:30PM.  I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few staples for the week so I could pack lunches (lunchmeat, raw veggies, flat outs, & greek yogurt).  I was hungry for something warm and comforting when I got home and decided on homemade Vegetable Soup.

Steamed veggies in a Bella cup.

Steamfresh veggies + soy sauce + minced garlic + minced onions.  Alllllll blended together and eaten warm.

Allll the ingredients.

I’ll spare you the POST blending pictures, being that they highly resemble baby feces.

Along side my soup, I had a Flat Out smeared with sweet cream cheese Sonoma Jacks Pepperjack cheese + Splenda.

On a classy yellow paper plate.

It hit the spot!  Today was all about relaxation, so after lunch, I vegged out with the rest of the family watching movies and enjoying each others’ company.  A few hours later, I had a protein snack.

Plain Oikos.

Stirred in with some of this stuff:

Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup.

This stuff has ZERO calories!  Crazy, huh?

We played Phase 10 and were lazy bums.  I was a little sore from the p90X stuff combined with the running & biking from Saturday, so it was a nice recovery day for me.

Dinner was munchies throughout the night.  Broccoli slaw with ketchup, raw tofu dipped in sugar free honey + soy sauce mix, some vanilla sugar free pudding, and a whole wheat bagel thin topped with sugar free strawberry jelly.  I also had a bag of Black Cherry sugar free JELLO bites from Sheetz that my buddy, JD brought me 🙂 Oh and a peach, too.  Sorry for the lack of pictures.  My camera was MIA.  I didn’t realize how SNACKY  I had been all night.

Hope you all had great weekends!

Weekend Recap!

Posted on

Soooo Friday night when I got home, I almost immediately hopped on the exercise bike so that I could get a good workout in before heading to Harrisburg to meet up with some friends.  I biked for about 2 hours while watching “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” on my laptop.

My family left for my younger sisters’ basketball tournament around 6PM and would be there overnight into Saturday.  I was meeting my friend Rachael and her buddy Wade at Damon’s where they were having dinner and then we headed to Bourbon Street downtown for a little while.  It didn’t last long, which I was glad for because going to a bar isn’t my thing at all…We decided to go bowling instead and made our way to ABC East.  It was a fun night! I got home around 2 AM and went right to sleep.

I woke up to an empty house, as expected and made some breakfast.  I must’ve been craving protein, so I made some frozen berry cottage cheese with Fiber One topping:

Prior to Fiber One Topping.

I did a lot around the house on Saturday like laundry, paying bills, and tidying up.  I also biked on and off alll day until about 4PM.  I had a big date to get ready for!  I was going ice skating with my cousin, her boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s buddy.  Names will remain annonymous.  I haven’t exactly told him much about the blog yet, as far as what it entails, but he does know I have one and that I’m a nutrition nut.  He was really sweet and brought me a rose 🙂  Not to mention, he was a perfect gentleman all night.  After skating, we needed something to warm us up so we grabbed some coffee and chatted for a little while longer.  After dropping off my cousin and her boy, we sat in the car and chatted for about 1/2 hour before we headed our separate ways.  He invited me to his church the next morning, and I happily accepted.

As late as I got home the night before, I felt like a nice little workout before I went to meet up with [the boy] for church would wake me up a little, so I biked for about an hour.  Only burned about 300 calories

Then I made breakfast:

Greek yogurt+Fiber One+ SF syrup.

After that, I got a shower, I prettied up for church and headed to Carlisle to meet [the guy] for church.  After the service, we went to Panera for coffee together.  I can already tell this is the start of something good.

Then, I met my family in Harrisburg for lunch at the Jade Buffet.  This place is awesome because, along with a salad bar in addition to all the fried nasty chinese food, they’ve got a bar of raw meat and veggies without sauce, completely plain.  You can make a plate of your own meat  & veggies, hand it to the chef, and ask him not to cook it in oil, just water.  Which is exactly what I did 🙂 Sauce on the side, of course.

Shrimp, chicken, onion, sugar snap peas, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and bean sprouts!

This was TOTALLY my favorite meal of the weekend.  FOR sure.  The sauce that I sprinkled on was brown and watery, with just enough garlicy flavor to spice up my veggies and protein 🙂

For dessert, I had a plate of cantaloupe from the salad bar that went unpictured.

From there, we went to Wolf’s furniture store so my parents could do some bedroom decor shopping.  They bought a new bed frame and furniture to match, which I absolutely love.

Then, we picked my sister up at Messiah and we went bowling!  I’m not very good, but I had a lot of fun and scored over 100 each game! 🙂  Yay.  After bowling, we had plans to go to Olive Garden for dinner, but the wait was outrageously long, so we opted for Applebee’s instead.

Salad with greens, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, balsamic vinegar & salt/pepper!

I didn’t want any of the salads on the menu or any of the sandwiches, but the waitress really hooked me up with a basic salad & sandwich.  Everything had some sort of fatty dressing/topping, that I just wasn’t feeling.

Turkey, lettuce, tomato, & onion on swirled toast.

My family had an awesome time too and they got some finger licking food there too!

Randa & Bek.

Myranda’s friend, Bekah who is home from PSU on Spring Break, came with us too!  She ordered the Shrimp & Broccoli alfredo which came in a humungo bowl! It was so pretty that I had to take a photo.

My sisters ordered the Sampler Appetizer to share and the Wonton Tacos!

Wonton Tacos.

Nachos with spinach dip, boneless buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, and a chicken & cheese quesedilla.

After dropping of Randa back at school, we headed home and ended our weekend perfectly by resting up!
