The Early Bird Gets The Worm.

Posted on

Getting to work at 6:45am isn’t as easy as I thought it would be…although utilizing our families Keurig coffee makes the commute much more tolerable.

Working 7am-3pm wasn’t supposed to make me feel like a zombie, but I suppose it’s worth it, since I’ve been able to attend all of my basketball practices.  I can’t believe our first game is in a few weeks!

[whole wheat cinnamon raisin sandwich thin + peanut flour paste + mashed naner]

When I do finally arrive at my building after walking under the creepiest bridge ever from the lot I pay to park in downtown, I set up my own little breakfast making station at my desk.  Not many people in the office work the shift I do, so it’s nice and peaceful.

A delicious, healthy breakfast is necessary on days like these…like a consolation prize for my pulling myself out of bed at 5am….NOT for a workout.  Somehow, it was easier when I knew I’d be sweating and revving up my body at that time back in the booty camp days.

Mid-morning snack (aka, breakfast #2) = Lemon 0% Chobani + 1 of Katie’s Coconut Almond Macaroons crumbled in.

Before I know it, my lunchtime arrives.

This picture doesn’t do justice to how large my salad truly is.   A huge bed of chopped green leaf lettuce, broken asparagus spears, baby bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and english cucumbers. The large and in charge bottle to the left is a new product which I LOVE and found at Wegman’s.

Mango Vinegar Spritzer

Ingredients: Mango Juice, White Wine Vinegar, Natural Mango Extract, Xanthan Gum, Sulphide Dioxide; 1 tbsp = 15 calories

HUGE fan…although it did cost me about $6.

Before practice, I usually have some type of candy fuel.  These bars are my favorite…Elise’s recommendation.  120 calories, made from brown rice syrup, dates, and other wholesome ingredients.  What you’re not seeing is ziplock baggie of frozen grapes that I ate, too.  Nature’s sugar at it’s best.

After a two hour practice, I’m pretty beat, but it’s a good kind of beat, you know?  On days I don’t have class, I go straight home to get a shower…and then, when I’m out, I devour dinner (hence, no photos).  Usually, it’s something effortless like steamed vegetables (broccoli slaw, peas, snap peas, green beans – whatever is in my freezer), protein (whether it’s ff cottage cheese, grilled chicken, or deli turkey), and carb (brown rice, ww bread, oat cake).

Then, for dessert before bed, I always have a shake.  I have been using 1/2 scoop Vega chocolate & 1/2 scoop chocolate whey together and it is delish.  Helps me sleep, too!

If you’re counting, that’s two cheeseball “thumbs up” pictures in one post.  I guess I’m a little awkward on camera.  Haha.  Sidenote: Jarid also likes to point out that when I’m alone in a photo, I always tilt my head to the left a little bit.  It’s too funny, now that I look back on all the pics he has of me.

Do you have a signature picture pose?

XO.

Weekend Overload: Part I

I went from this:

to this:

in a matter of about 9.20943850293 minutes on Friday afternoon.  Going from work to the gym, I didn’t have much turn around time, because the boy and I had a date night planned.

Both of which were seen at the Drive-In Movie Theatre in our area.  We got there pretty early, surprisingly, but had a blast goofing around until start time.

In the morning, I fueled up with a Cinnamon Bun Cafe Balance Bar that the company sent for a review along with some cantaloupe & iced coffee.

And then met up with Toni, a fellow fitness & nutrition fan from Transforming Toni!  She is new to the blogworld, so show her some love 🙂

She has already lost a TON of weight and is doing an amazing job of getting healthy!

Together, we went to FITNESS FEST at Fort Hunter Park in Harrisburg.

It was a series of fitness classes outside in the beautiful sunshine for $10.  We stayed for the first two classes, Zumba and Turbo Kick.

On the way home, we cranked up the volume on her stereo and she shared her boyfriend’s band music with me!

Boxcar Social is based in Hanover, PA and is described as:

A blend of funky, soulful grooves, blues driven riffs and traditional bluegrass is not atypical of a Boxcar Social show. Drawing on influences such as Phish, The Grateful Dead, Railroad Earth, Flatt and Scruggs, Yonder Mountain String Band and many many many more

For lunch, I made a new rendition of an old favorite…Any vegetable pizza lovers out there?

You know, the unbaked kind on the Pillsbury Crescent roll sheets with the cream cheese base and raw veggie topping?

Well, I made mine using La Tortilla Factory Low Carb High Fiber Whole Wheat Tortillas and reduced-fat garden vegetable cream cheese.  Just a tablespoon is plenty!

Just shop up some red pepper, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, and broccoli and load it up!

DEEEELICIOUS.

You can even add some salsa to the top if you prefer 🙂 Try it.  Light, summery, and mouth-watering.  ❤ Next time, I think I’ll try adding some hardboiled egg!

Part II coming soon! Oh, and don’t forget to enter to win this awesome cookbook!

XO.

I’ve Got Soul.

As if the fact that it was Friday wasn’t enough to put a smile on my face, a co-worker from another program office with the State sent me this sweet, little hand-written note to thank me for doing a good job 🙂

It makes me feel really good to know that someone appreciates my efforts.  I don’t think she realized how much she brightened my day!

Friday night, I went to dinner with a friend from basketball.  He took me to Red Lobster and we had a really nice time.  Afterward, we just went home to hang out and watch a movie.  “Wanted” with Angelina Jolie was a pretty neat flick with lots of special effects, but I could’ve done without all the “f-bombs”.

With the weekend came some leisurely workouts with Shaun T

andddd some One Tree Hill episodes that I missed out on during the week.

James Lafferty, you make a great Nathan Scott, but you’ve got some serious competition in the “Cutest OTH Character” department with Austin Nichols as Julian Baker.

UGH. I will be your Brooke Davis anyday of the week 🙂 Ha.

Anywayyy,  I had a hankering for some soup, and found a bottle of French Onion mix in the grocery store.

I was surprised and delighted by the nutrition facts (per 1/2 c. serving- 40 cals, 0g fat, 4g protein) and the simple preparation (just mix with 1/2 c. water!)

I simply carmelized 1/2 an onion in some non-stick cooking spray, added the broth to the pan, and let it simmer for a little while until cooked through.

I poured the soup over 1 1/2 slices of light multigrain Fiber One bread and of courseee, added a slice of fat free swiss cheese to the top for melty deliciousness.

Mmmmm.

In other news entirely, I had another great find at Rite Aid this weekend!

Hellllooooo leopard print nailss! These are my favorite of the nail effects prints thus far!

Sunday I got to play basketball for threeee hoursss (and nine minutes ;)) ❤

And burned a crazyyyy amount of calories : 1058! Max HR 187

I had a sister date with the middle for her birthday.  We went to Jade, a chinese buffet and she tried her first piece of sushi!

I wish the would’ve had some with brown rice!  I would’ve enjoyed that.

Instead, I found some seaweed salad and started with that!

I love this stuff and haven’t had it for SO long.

Next, Randa went for some lomein and chicken & broccoli.

While I, on the other hand, took full advantage of the bar where you could mix your own bowl and have it prepared however you like it!  I opted for steaming, of course 🙂

Broccoli, shrimp, green pepper, bean sprouts, mushrooms, and snap peas

I had another plate just like this one, only with chicken instead, and finished off with a tiny cup of no sugar added, reduced fat vanilla ice cream for dessert.

I broke my fortune cookie and left it sit. I was just too full!  I hope that’s not “bad luck”!

After dinner, I treated her to a movie of her choice.  I was excited when she chose Soul Surfer, because I had heard such great things about it.

[source]

The movie was great, actually.  I was worried that it would be a flop since there were an overload of big names in the mix (Carrie Underwood, Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, etc.) and sometimes that can be overwhelming, but it was excellent.  I loved the several Bible references and scripture incorporated into the flick!  Totally inspirational…even more so, that it was a true story!

Needless to say, another successful, enjoyable weekend down!  Now for finals week…this should be interesting!

XO.

Daily Devotional:

Yet another peanut flour & banana breakfast was on the menu this morning.  This time, Kashi took part in the meal, providing seven whole grains from these waffles 🙂

23g of whole grains, 6g fiber and 560mg of beneficial ALA Omega-3

Wafflewich, anyone?  Common, I know Holly and I aren’t the only ones obsessed with this combo.

When I went outside to leave for work, I had a “WOW, God” moment.  Sometimes, His creations just astound me and stop me dead in my tracks.  Don’t you love moments like that?  From this second, I knew today was going to be a good day.  I was going to MAKE it one.  Life is too short not to be joyous 🙂

I did forget my gloves for the walk to work, so my fingers were icicles by the time I arrived at my building, but they thawed quickly.  *Note to self: Paint your fingernails.

Around 10am on our morning break, a girl at my office and I decided that the sun was shining enough to take a walk.  We took a lap around the Capitol building into downtown Strawberry Square and headed back.  It was great to get some fresh air.  Spring is soon here!

Not sure what exactly inspired this lunch today, but it was good, never-the-less.

Of course, the mix of greens was fabulous, but my favorite part was the spaghetti squash that I topped the romaine with!  It meshed well with the Balsamic Glaze that I used for dressing.

Shredded romaine, cucumbers, snap peas, lima beans, sketti squash, and orange pepper drizzled with raspberry balsamic glaze

For protein and carbs, I incorporated a new-to-me snack.

They’re kind of like rice cakes, only lighter.  I got the “Apple Cinnamon” flavor and crumbled a few up.  Into my bowl of fat-free cottage cheese & cinnamon they went.

3/4 C. fat free cottage cheese + cinnamon & 3 crumbled Crispy Wheats

Again, the sunshine through the windows teased Amber and I all afternoon, so guess what we did on our 3PM break?

Yep, another lap around the Capitol building.

When I got back to my desk, I had a note from my “work hubby” haha.  One of my guy friends that actually started working for the State at the same time I did, always jokes that “if he wasn’t married”…

Completely innocent, I can assure you.  But it was a nice little pick-me-up to get a note from a friend.  The only person I really look forward to hearing from during the day is D, though.  When he first got to Germany, I heard from him about twice a day, which was awesome.  Lately, I feel like I’m lucky to get a message.  I know it should be expected…and it is, it’s just hard because I’m constantly wondering what he’s doing and how he is.  Funny how one of D’s messages can make or break my day…I don’t know that it’s such a good thing

I had a juicy, fuji apple for an afternoon snack.

Work stayed busy, and at 4pm, I hurried out the door to get to a basketball meeting that coach had called.  It was really good to see all the girls again.  We haven’t gotten together since our State Championship game, and I’ve missed them.  I found out lots of things: A- There is going to be a formal awards banquet in May; B- We are going to start having open gyms again (thank God!); C- We get to participate in a summer league!; and D- At the request of someone at Fort Indian Town Gap, we will be scrimmaging an Army team of girls from all around the country on March 19th!

When I got home, I had a taco-themed sandwich for dinner.

2 slices whole wheat bread, 1/4 smashed avocado, 1/4 C. fat free refried beans and 2 tbsp. Pace salsa

I’m not a fan of “light” breads, like this stuff which was only 45 calories per slice, but it was on its last leg, so I used it up…toasted, of course, to avoid the staleness.

The rest of dinner was a veggie feast.  Roasted broccoli, squash, zucchini, mushrooms, and parsnips with light Ragu and Cedar’s tzatiki dippers.

After dinner, I got to working on my fitness in the comfort of my basement.  First up, Shaun T and insane abs and then some biking and elliptical.  I guess I should probably change up my routine.  Any suggestions?

Biggest Loser was the entertainment of choice on this particular night.  Totally inspirational the frame of mind changes that these people go through.  On this episode, the contestants got to go home for 2 weeks and when they came back, they had to run a 5k.  Hulu rocks, by the way.

346 calories, 1:36:10, max HR 155

I cut it kinda short tonight.  I was just tired and wasn’t feeling it, so I stopped, got a shower, ate an orange, and watched American Idol with my Dad.  I only saw one person sing, but she was definitely the best.

She was given a standing ovation and completely deserved it.  I knew bootcamp at 5am would come early, so I got to bed at a reasonable hour…probably around 11ish, but beforehand, I had a green monster.

3/4 C. Unsweetend Vanilla Almond Breeze, sugar-free vanilla syrup, huge handful baby spinach, 1/4 C. canned pumpkin and a dash of peanut flour

It was a good, good day.  I hate that I feel like I’m on a constant emotional roller coaster, even though I’m pretty good at hiding it and acting like I’ve got it all together when I interact with people.  I get frustrated with the fact that I don’t always feel appreciative for the hand I’ve been dealt and for the people I love in life.  Maybe it’s a fault of mine that I keep myself so busy in order to avoid dealing with those feelings?  Can anyone relate?

In other news, check out Blyss’s awesome SHOT GLASS giveaway!  She’s got an ETSY shop, too! 🙂

XO.

Excitement.

Posted on

If I haven’t told you yet, there’s a bit of excitement in my life as of lately.

Yeah, I get excited about wholesome, healthy food like my breakfast this morning in green monster form

(3/4 C. unsweet vanilla almond breeze, 1/2 C. canned pumpkin, 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder, 1 handful baby spinach, 3 ice cubes, sugar free Torani syrup, & cinnamon)

I slurped this down in all of it’s Shrek colored glory and contemplated leaving my seafoam mustache for the entertainment of my co-workers.

Instead, I swiped a towel along my lips and packed up some twiggy cereal (Fiber Select) for munching on at my desk, mid-morning.

But hey, back to the excitementRemember back when I was torn about the fact that a guy I really cared about was leaving for Airborne school and immediately following, GermanyGuess what? He’s got three weeks leave.  And he’s already made his way to see me.  We’re getting together this weekend, too. :):):)

On a very opposite end of the spectrum, some of you have asked for MORE pictures of me on the blog.  Not sure why, exactly, but ask and you shall receive.  Soooo this is me, unexcited…at my desk, staring down a huge pile of work.  Note: I like to match my cardigan to my morning smoothie…Ha.

That’s what I do.  Process paperwork.  All.Day.Long.  It’s not so bad, actually.  I’m being dramatic.  Love my co-workers, though.  Recently, one of them sent me an email asking me about my blog!  She apparently loves food blogs and came across mine in her readings!  How cool, rightHi Michelle 🙂

Lunch was a fabulous spread of leftovers from the dinner party.  I packed a hugeee salad with greens (spinach, lettuce, romaine), tomato, mushroom, cucumber, broccoli, and cauliflower topped with a naked chicken breast and MarDona Cherry Balsamic Glaze

You thought I was kidding about a HUGE salad?  You should know, I don’t kid about the size of my salad 😉

Then for whole grains I had a slice of 10 grain bread with 1 tbsp. fat-free strawberry cream cheese and a fuji apple for dessert.

After walking back to my car in the frigid 9 degree weather yesterday, I snacked on this Granola Gourmet bar on my way to the gym.  Ultimate Mocha Fudge was fantastic!  This company just started making individually wrapped bars which are totally convenient.  Thanks, Nancy! LOVED this flavor.

At the fitness center, I ellipticalled for about 20 minutes before some ab work.  Then practice began at 5, just as usual and 2 hours and 48 minutes later and I was down 839 calories with an average heart rate of 111.

When I got home it was already time for girls’ night and the Bachelor!  Everyone was noshing on chips, cookies, and pretzels, but since it was at my house and I hadn’t eaten dinner yet, I rounded up some post workout refueling goodies.

A slice of 10 grain toast with Sonoma Jack’s light pepperjack cheese + sugar free polaner apricot jam ❤

A huge plate of roasted kale chips and some of their shroomy baked friends.

A buncha egg whites swiped in some Forty Spices Tribe hummus and a few others filled with light Ragu.

I think that this episode of the Bachelor just verified what the girls and I had been talking about since the season started.  The producers are REALLY playing up the details of each girls’ fears, past experiences, and trouble areas.  For example, they survey the girls to find out their biggest fears and base the dates around them for optimal entertainment.  Biggest fear: heights = a date repelling down a sky scraper. Biggest fear: open water = a date scuba diving.

I guess that’s what you get for going on reality TV to find a husband!

I also had a big bowl of this cereal + unsweet vanilla almond breeze between commercials.

Not a fan of the fact that sugar was second on the ingredient list for this stuff, but you win some, you lose some, right?

🙂  Betcha can’t guess what was for dessert!

A few blocks of my favorite chocolate barrrrr.  NewTree Belgian Biscuit Dark Chocolate.

Swoon.

PERFECT ending to my night…Along with the fact that I received a pretty sweet goodnight message from D. ❤

Did you watch the Bachelor last night?!  What do you think of Michelle?!

Xo.

Breakfast : Black Raspberry Cheesecake Oats

(1/2 C. oats, 1/4 C. fat free cottage cheese, 1 tbsp. sugar free blackraspberry preserves, sugar free vanilla Torani microwaved until warm)

Just as my workouts sometimes need to stay fresh and enthusiastic, so does my relationship with my Savior.  It’s easy to just go through the motions and do what you feel you “have” to do, but are we really getting much out of it?  If we fully believe in His word, then we know that He is our strength.  Keeping that thought in the forefront of our minds will make us WANT to draw closer to Him and it should excite us!

I tried to stay focused at work, but I was so enthralled by all the neat stuff we’re going to be doing in my Nutrition class.  I had the first one on Tuesday night, and I’ve been exploring the book every chance I get to take a break at work.

For any of you dieticians or health fielders out there, we started out pretty basic with kcals vs. calories, the different components of foods (carbs, proteins, fats), and basic health knowledge.

I’m really getting excited about the class, now!  Finally, I get to take a course that I’m totally interested in from beginning.  No more algebra and history, although, both of those ended up being way more interesting that I could’ve bargained for.

Anwho, back to the eats.  Around noon I practically skipped to the office refrigerator because I was excited about my lunch.

Diced cucumber & tomatoes, a bed of steamed kale with 1/2 C. brown rice, a grilled chicken breast, and some cucumber garlic Cedar’s Tzatziki for dressing.

Totally delish and wholesome.  I picked up a few more of my books at the campus bookstore after the 1/2 mile walk back to my car after work.  I also sold back my books from last semester for a total of $91.00!  Not too shabby.

There was snackage before practice, too.

1/4 C. fat free cottage cheese, 1/4 C. canned pumpking, + splenda & cinnamon

A tiny, baby naner.

and some healthy fats for good measure 🙂

I hate when I get 1/2 way through a practice and feel like I’ve got nothin’ left to give, so I’ve been making sure I’m properly fueled in order to run up and down the floor like the energizer bunny.

752 calories burned, max hr 165.

I didn’t have a great practice, but I’ve come to realize that not EVERYONE is going to be stellar.  The important thing is to push through and not expect perfection from yourself.  You’re GOING to have off days.  It’s inevitable.

Annnd we all know the greatest perk to working out is reeeeeefueling, right?  Dinner was served when I got home.

I had 1/2 of this Dr. McDougall’s Lentil soup box while I was waiting for my veggies to roast in the oven.

Not the most photogenic appetizer in the world, but it sure is delicious.  Probably my favorite soup in the world, actually.  At 115 calories, 7g protein, and 8g fiber, you can’t argue with the stats either!  If you want to really up the nutrition, you can get the low sodium version…but I’ll warn you, I’ve tried it.  Not even a contender.  I convinced myself that I just sweated a whole bunch at practice, so I could use a little extra sodium.

Before I knew it, the oven timer was going off and I had a veggie feast on my hands.  I love the “rainbow on my plate” kind of thing 🙂  Red (bell pepper), orange (butternut squash), yellow (squash), green (zucchini), and ummm white (parsnips)?  Okay, you get the point.

All seasoned with some NutraSalt Seasalt and pepper.  I used light ragu on the side as a dipper, but ended up eating it more like soup at the end.  The veggies were great all on their own!

After dinner, I logged onto my Health class’s website (since it’s a virtual course) and finished up some assignments.  Before too long, I knew it was time for dessert

(1/2 C. old fashioned oats, sugar free vanilla Torani, cinnamon, and 1/3 C. egg whites topped with fat free cream cheese & sugar free black raspberry jam)

Since I hadn’t really had any whole grains with dinner, I knew I wanted an oatcake to hit my sweet tooth.

What’s your favorite post dinner snack?  I like to have carbs before bed most nights because they help me sleep!  I also had a cup of unsweetened vanilla almond breeze with some cinnamon to wash down my dessert!

XOXO.

Mix & Matcher.

Posted on

First off, thanks so much to all of your sweet comments on yesterday’s post about being a blessing…you have NO idea what kind of blessing you all have been in my life as well.  Thanks for being some of the best friends a girl could as for.

Today, an apple butter cottage cheese blizzard was on the menu for brekkie…you know, since they’re calling for snow and all 🙂

1 C. fiber select + 3/4 C. fat free cottage cheese + 1.5 tbsp. no sugar added apple butter + a splash of unsweetened vanilla almond breeze

I also had a little glass ramekin of about 3/4 C. frozen sweet red cherries which I microwaved until warm and juicy.

The vibrant color cheered me right up 🙂  As did this devotional

I really want to start STRIVING to grow closer to God this year.  That’s one of my biggest goals.  I always use my car ride to work worshipping Him, but I really lack in my scripture reading and just spending time with Him in general.

Just a shot to show you how dismal I can become while I’m sitting at my desk at work…haha.  I sometimes feel as though I’m staring at my computer screen for hours…it’s a good thing I drink 203984209348 tons of water so that I’m constantly up and down to run to the restroom 🙂  It’s best for my sanity, believe me.

Lunchtime finally rolled around and I was excited to try one of the favorite foods in the blog world for the first time!

1/3 C. quinoa + steamed broccoli + canned mushrooms + 1 tbsp. nutritional yeast + 1/4 C. lima beans

YUM.  I certainly didn’t know how much I was missing out on without quinoa in my life.  It gave me a tonnn of energy and is a total superfood.

After work and before the gym, I also had a blueberry Chobani

I always thought that I needed whole grains before a workout to give me some carby power, but this yogurt did the trick SO well!  I think since the fruit in it has some good carbs as well along with the cane sugar, it gave me a lil push!

Before practice, I had some time to burn…in the fitness center, all of the cross ramps and ellipticals were taken, so I opted for the bike.  At first, I attempted the stepper machine, but for some reason I couldn’t get it to work correctly.  I did a quick 20ish minutes and then some floor ab work.  I forgot my heart rate monitor, but I’m thinking I burned a total of about 800 calories, if not more between practice and the gym.  We were playing full court for about 40 minutes and running some tough drills, too.

I packed some chickpeas and baby carrots to munch on during the car ride home so that when I reached the kitchen, I wasn’t ready to chew my arm off.  Healthy snacks are ALWAYS a good idea for this girl…especially since my metabolism is totally rev’d up!

1/2 ww. light english muffin with 1 tbsp. forty spices hummus

I’m a little disappointed that my bball sneaks still haven’t arrived…the tracking system said they should’ve!

Dinner was pretty boring, to be honest.  I’m running low on veggies, so I just took all the ones I had in the fridge, plated them, and drizzled with balsamic vinegar…oh yeah, and I cooked up some onion…not much flavor, though…I was disappointed.

I also tried to whip up some egg white french toast pancakes (5 eggwhites, sugar free vanilla torani, and cinnamon), but you can see how that turned out…total fail…I realized as they were cooking that I forgot to whip in some baking powder.

One success I DID have at dinner was this awesome Cherry Cordial Protein Shake.

1/2 C. frozen sweet dark cherries, 1 scoop scivation chocolate whey powder, 1/2 C. unsweet vanilla almond breeze, 1 tbsp. unsweet cocoa powder

Things that escaped my camera:

  • other 1/2 of my lite ww english muffin with ff s.berry cream cheese
  • a finger swipe of chocolate almond butter
  • a few sugar free jelly bellys
  • 1/4 avocado eaten straight up
  • spoonful of fat free ricotta cheese with sugar free boysenberry jam

I like allowing myself to mix and match foods.  I rarely have an actual meal that goes together.  Sometimes it’s nice to have a sit down meal all at once, but I’m more satisfied when I hit each and every craving.

What about you?  Do you enjoy more of a sit down, meal of things that all work together to create a meal, or do you like a little of this and a little of that?

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Verse of the Day:

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.”

– Proverbs 31:30

It started out like any other day

Fiber Select + Optimum Nutrition cake batter protein milk.

Cereal & milk, because breakfast is the most important meal of the day and you know how I feel about my bowl of crunch.

I decided to bring my new camera along to work today, because I wanted to play with it on my break.  I hadn’t gotten to experiment as much as I would’ve liked with the settings, etc. so I took advantage of my 15 minutes of downtime.

candy dish!

I keep this little candy dish at my desk for any visitors.  It is filled with chocolate!  People don’t understand how I keep a candy dish right in front of me and am never tempted to eat any.  Guess junk food loses its appeal after you go without it for so long?   Anyway, I actually threw this bowl myself on a pottery wheel at my cousin’s house who makes her own pottery…Want proof?

"Sami '09"

Pshtt…and you doubted me

Also, joining the party at my desk, is this awesome organic citrus & mint energizing body lotion from Bath & Body Works.

smells amazingg.

As much as I wash my hands at work, without this stuff by my side, I would have some cracked dry skin for sure!

my cute little springy tissue box cover!

One of my awesome co-workers actually made these!  She said they’re really simple, too!  I just realized my box was empty.

Thanks, come again 🙂

Thanks for joining me for the tour of my desk where I eat lunch

the goods.

& slave away every day 😉  haha.

After work, I went home and changed in prep for the gym.  Before I left, I had a snack to fuel me.  Carbs & protein are always a nice combo.

Oikos (with SF syrup & cinnamon) consumed with a gala apple.

At the gym, I went a little over 9 miles in an hour & five minutes, burning 720 calories with the elliptical at levels varying from 7-10.

After cardio, it was time to for some weight & floor work.

  • 3 sets of 25 hip abductor 115 lbs.
  • 3 sets of 25 hip adductor 90 lbs.
  • 3 sets of 3o in-and-outs
  • 3 “supermans” for 1 minute each
  • 3 sets of 10 crunches each side (90 total)
  • I also threw in 2 sets of 10 push ups just for fun 😉

This sweat sesh felt SO good after missing Tuesday.   I was a little ball of energy, bouncing from machine to floor and back again.

By the end of the workout, I was tired & hungry.  I worked up an appetite!

I went home and knew exactly what I was craving.

Freckled Foodie Triple Fudge Pudding.

chickpeas & chocolate! who knew?!

Random? Yes.  Satisfying?  Indeed.

Inspired by Crazy Camel Dessert Hummus, this protein pudding/brownie batter tasting bowl was FAB.  And yes, if you’re wondering it’s the same bowl I ate my cereal in.  What can I say?  It was a purple polka dotted kinda day 😉

cha-ching.

I also wanted some veggies, so I steamed a big old bowl of broccoli crowns, stirred up some nutritional yeast cheesy sauce (water+nooch), and dipped in reduced sugar ketchup.

delish.

After dinner, I packed my lunch, hopped in the shower (I made record time, by the way), and left to go to the zoo visit my girl, Mandy.  She recently re-decorated her bedroom and I was dying to see it!  She’s totally a creative genius.

I was greeted by this big guy!

Harley! Isn't that a cool name for a pup?

and we played a game of Dominos.

I did notttt win...

but I did have fun gazing at another animal at the zoo house.

fishie.

Then came the cool part!  Mandy’s room is sooo unique!  You better not mimick it because she WILL hunt you down 😉  She actually found many of the pieces at vintage/consignment stores which I totally loved!

antiques, vintage hats, teacups, & a creepy manequin!

I lovedddd it!  She’s got some serious interior design talent 😉

After we checked out the new stuff, I held this little pig pet

furball! 🙂

and we watched American Idol

I was really sorry to see Big Mike go.  I loved him! His wife & baby were TOO cute.  I was hoping that pretty cowboy from Texas would be leaving.  Ahhh well.

Any American Idol fans out there?  What did you all think?
